Yeah that was her hairstyle in the movie, so I'm not sure how it could have been sculpted any better.
I rewatched the film …and from the moment they found her ..the hair was loose and messy combined with the wavy tresses hung all over her face the whole time…I agree HT nailed the hair on this sculpt as best as one can do in terms of sculpting hair

For everyone assuming this will be available on huge discount or Sideshow give aways a year from now, didn't Hot Toys cut edition sizes recently? I doubt they'll continue over produce figures to levels we've seen in the past.
I admit, I played the "waiting" game on this - and I assumed that due to the films performance, and the controversial reboot of the DCU - that I'd get this figure after release for a bargain - if it turned out well, and was worth getting - add to that, the general apathy the figure recieved on release - dur to the headsculpt - and people saying she looks like a man....I really slept on this piece.

Now I'm scambling to get one, at a decent price...so I can only imagine how much harder it is going to be to get this a few weeks or months from now - at a decent price. I can't help but think that this is going to be one of those "grail pieces" - especially now we know the actress who plays her isn't going to be the face of Supergirl going forward.

It will be interesting to see which stores are even going to part this figure out for kitbashing - that suit and headsculpt are going to be rare as hell....IMHO.

I took the gamble and preordered with SS over the weekend..little did I know by yesterday it went to waitlist..when I ordered.. it did say low stock and almost gone but I didn’t think it would sell out by Monday. But the video reviews on YouTube convinced me that the proportions they got on this figure is spot on to Calle’s SG anyway you look at it. And the movable eyes sells the likeness to her even more. I’m waiting for a Kate Bishop 2.0 with movable eyes as I feel HT has revolutionized the original PERS concept to the point that any human release figure that doesn’t have the movable eyes moving forward is just not that accurate to the character anymore..especially on the female characters

No need to panic, these figures will always be available one way or another. It's available at a higher price on some of the legit Hong Kong sites but I'm going to wait until they arrive at a local collectibles shop, probably in a month or so.

Yes they have. Not sure why many still operate under the assumption of the "old ways".

No need for FOMO though - another Supergirl is coming from Gunn's DCU.

But that's the point - it won't be THIS actress! There's plenty of Supergirl figures on the market, but none of them are this actress - and it's doubtful anyone will make a figure of her in this character going forward.

I guess if that matters to you, then sure. I know we collectors put emphasis on different things/reasons.

Well, considering the thread, and the focus of the thread - I assume anyone in here posting has an interest in the figure and this specific iteration of the character....otherwise, why bother coming in?

It would be like me going into a Robocop thread to tell the people that I've got no interest in Robocop....more than a little pointless.

I don't know man, have you seen some of the questions people pose in the ToyAnxiety Market thread? Or all the folks that cancel preorders for various reasons, likely costing themselves enough money to buy a figure over a span of time. Pointless is almost a middle name around these parts.

I would caution that there are always collectors on the fence. They usually only want to get a figure when a) the price is good b) the final product looks good compared to the prototype c) FOMO sets in d) there is no random reason e) it could be all of the above.

I would forgive anyone for holding out due to point b) - I mean, if the final production piece looks like ass versus the prototype - then who wants to throw good money after bad? I could also understand someone wanting to try to get a figure at a lower price point - no one wants to "over pay" - I hate when you see those holiday sales, and a figure you paid retail for is on sale for 20% - 30% off - then you just feel like a mug - at least I do.

Personally, I only get FOMO for things I specifically want - I can't imagine jumping on a piece JUST because it's hard to find - but each to their own, I guess.

I’ll take a chance and wait to see if PopCultcha has this around long enough to get discounted. Just go over there and look at how many figures are in stock for deep discount even though they sold out on Sideshow ages ago. Mando Ahsoka, Kenobi Grand Inquisitor and Reva, cowboy Marty and Doc, and Cyborg just off the top of my head.

I find listening to people like Big Breda over in China talk about how their retailer stock and prices are trending to be a better barometer of how scarce a figure will actually be. Not sure if he has any info on this Supergirl, but when I heard him say that all his sources have told him to expect the Ahsoka line figures to be produced in similar quantities to previous Mando line figures…well I am definitely just going to sit and wait for deals on any of those. Small sample size but Thrawn and Baylan certainly are readily available right now.

I took a shot on this at Popcultcha. It's currently listed at $231.81 before tax and shipping which came to about $270 shipped to Ohio. They are pretty reputable - correct?

edit:
It appears to have gone up in price to $262.69 wtf:lol - still available though.

edit 2:
But when I log back in again it's $238.81 :huh - try it while logged in I guess?

That second price you saw includes Australian taxes, which is assumed applicable until you put in your location.

Forgot to mention: the actual charge in USD on your order will be slightly different than what you see on the website as their site doesn’t update automatically to the current exchange rate. Also (if it’s not too late) use a credit card in lieu of PayPal to avoid the added fee.

Yeah I messed up a bit by using PP it cost me another $10. Still, not a bad price at $270 shipped. Cheaper than SS and everywhere else really here in US!

Thanks for your guidance I appreciate it:1-1:

Yeah, I made the same mistake the first time I bought something from them.

Do they have it in stock already or is this a pre-order? I've never pre-ordered with them before, only bought in-stock items. I imagine the USD/AUD exchange rate is pretty stable, but keep in mind that all orders with them are in AUD so (as I understand it) whatever rate applies when this is shipped applies, not today's rate.
