One question I have to ask: Why is it that we're all okay with the other characters in the line having sculpted hair, yet when it comes to Chewie it's all "real hair or nothing!!"...? I mean, shouldn't Salacious, Luke, Han, Obi, Anakin, and Qui-Gon all have had real hair, too? :monkey3

I'm fine with a sculpted Chewie, as long as he looks accurate. :chew

To me it's similar to prefering the HT rubber skinned body to a regular plastic body when it comes to Drake and Rambo and Rocky. That is what makes the figure what it is.

C'mon man, it's Chewie. You gots to have real fur on Chewie.:D But an accurate sculpted one might look good. I think it could also be screwed up just as bad as a furred one too.

The difference to me is that on the others its just a little bit up on top. For Chewie its his whole body so it would look a little more strange in plastic and look a little better with fur. That is of course going on the assumption that it looks equally good with either medium.

How about a sculpted head and a furry body?
That's an interesting idea. Don't know how that would look. The colors of the fur and head would definitely have to be a dead match or else it might look like Chewie uses Just For Men.

Because Chewie's fur is like Han's clothes.

For his head it would probably be the biggest challenge. The only way I can see them doing real fur on the head is if they did a sculpt and then implanted it somehow, there's no way to make a body suit that would cover his head as well without looking horrible. But I'm sure Sideshow will find a solution.

Hasbro had the mechanics down even if they didn't have the means for the likeness (and at around $30 retail). It's not brain surgery.

I didn't bother reading the thread but you're 100% correct. A "real fur" Chewie from mass production would be disastrous. I rarely see real hair work on regular 1/6 figures. Elvis has been doing some really cool stuff but at the end of the day I prefer toys to be toys. There's a weird "uncanny valley" you can sink into with that kind of stuff where you start trying to hide joints and ****. One should probably just get a statue.

A decade of dolly female 1/6 figures were set-back 20 years by Sideshow's Baroness so my vote would be for a plastic Chewie. It could be done well.

Until you guys Frankensteined this thread the latest post was from: 03-27-2007, 05:31 AM. ;) Just saying...

Besides, we already got our Chewie statue, and he was fully sculpted.

"Chewbacca SHOULD NOT have real fur"

i agree... for both the 1:6 and the Episode 7 costume.

I think he should have real fur, but then, I just hate animals, and am always looking for an excuse to kill some more of them.
