WHY is it impossible to sculpt Mark Hamill?

That Han does look sharp.

I always liked the Jedi Luke sculpt, even when it was being trashed here in this same forum where everyone is now claiming it to be the best... ;)

Bespin Luke is nice but not my favorite.

The Tatooine Luke's sculpt is amazing. That just goes to prove the point regarding the damage that poor paint apps do to the figures' overall perception. Strip that crappy factory paint app and get it repainted and Trev's magic pops out.

The meh paint apps have been the bane of SS's 12" figures. We jump in glee when we get one that is "half-way" decent, since we're conditioned to expect a bad app automatically. That's pretty sad.

I still don't care for the Jedi Luke sculpt, at no point in my display will I ever need him to be blowing on soup. Bespin Luke is the most tolerable to this point.

:rotfl:rotfl Especially since he can use the Force to do that!....Has anyone tried re-sculpting Jedi Luke to look less surprised.....Although I have to say that he is one of the few figures that non-Star Wars savvy people recognize when they come over my house. The sculpt has more strengths than weaknesses.

So are there any takers wanting to repaint my farmboy Luke along with my smuggler Han? I've been thinking about having it done for a while and this sells me on it.

Sideshow seems to be the only one able to get a good look. But sadly in production only Jedi has really come through. But I think both the ANH and ROTJ are excellent sculpts, also Andy B's rejected ESB is another great one. I think the Yavin Luke actually started out life as a good sculpt, but got severely jacked-up in production. Not sure about the ESB one, I don't really care for it and don't think I've ever seen the raw sculpt.

Andy Bergholtz sculpt was brilliant:

I would love to see that professionally painted.

The Jedi, Farmboy and Bespin Luke are great as is the PF of Dagobah Luke. But he does seem to be as difficult as Ford to capture well.

i think sideshow has given us lotsa great stuff, but somehow it seems like they've kinda slacked off recently. i really didn't like their antilles. zzzzz...

and pls don't flame me for saying this, but i think hot toys would do a great mark hamill sculpt AND paint job. in the hands of people like yulli, no less.

not sayin trevor's sculpt ain't great, just that i think hot toys could do a better job overall. too bad they don't have the license...

just my 2 cents' worth :peace

When it comes down to sculptor ability for likeness, I favor Trevor over Yulli. I'm sure he could have done a better Christian Bale for the Dark Knight figure.

Trevor is a genius (and so is Yuilli), but Sideshow's production techniques are so much worse than Hot Toys' that we don't really get to fully appreciate his stuff. :(

hmmm, not sure i agree with u on that. but then again, it's anyone's guess.

yulli's work on the harvey dent sculpt was absolutely phenomenal. and i ALSO like most of trevor's stuff....

anyway, as someone pointed out, it's the paint apps that killed the ANH luke sculpt in the end.

So who can do a good repaint of the PF - any recommendations? or does anyone
have a picture of one already repainted?
