As tempting as they'd be to pre-order, I'd wait until release for the reasons you listed above.

I don't why, I have a feeling we'll see them again this summer alongside an animated season 3-5 Ahsoka. There may already be a couple of HT Ahsokas on the market, but no high-quality 1/6 animated version.

I think SS would be smart to hit up animated figures. Rebels would do well also. When they unveiled those TCW figures, their FB groups went nuts. They could pump out the Ghost crew and make a KILLING. Plus Ahsoka in various forms from early TCW, to season 7 TCW and Rebels Ahsoka? They would sell like crazy. As someone mentioned, I also thought SS should’ve went the B character route. Instead of trying to compete with Hot Toys, they could’ve made a killing doing those types of characters. I know the tooling costs a ton, but I think they would’ve done well enough. But they could definitely pick up the animated market since a lot of people, though they will buy them, want to see their figures in animated form. Captain Rex in particular got a lot of flack for that.

As for rogue one, I’ve been hoping that Andor might get people excited again. Enough that they produce the figures they didn’t before. Hasbro recently re-did all their rogue one figures (obviously not a fair comparison), but Baze would’ve sold like crazy. Hell, if they re-released K2 (which they probably will when he shows up in Andor) he will sell. I think there’s a lot of potential for that. I was just talking to some people about why Clone Wars Obi-Wan hasn’t dropped yet considering it was previewed the same time Anakin was. I’m wondering if they’re holding it back until Kenobi drops. Not that Obi-Wan needs an extra push but it’s possible

Oh yeah true. The Tank trooper !!

Really 12 episodes for Cassian ! That is unheard of for Disney+ !!

To me that's an indication it'll only be 1 season. However if it's a success, then money talks and S2 could be a goer.
Be mindful of your thoughts, Hoody.

Alan Tudyk:

“I'm going to be in the show. It's just that the story that Tony [Gilroy] is telling doesn't involve K-2SO until later on... I can't be too specific, but I can definitely say that I'm not going to be in the first season.”

Sounds like there's a second season planned. Still, nothing is ever certain with Kathleen around.

Yep, agreed, there's definitely a market out there for animated Rebels stuff. With the introduction of several Rebels characters into live-action over the next few Disney+ shows I can see the popularity of that show increasing dramatically.

Sideshow could just re-release, with ''improvements'', some of the B-characters they already put out in years past and they'd make a killing. The likes of Greedo, Hammerhead, Gamorrean Guard etc. would still sell very well even with Hot Toys on the scene.

Sideshow are not smart enough to come up with a strategy to re-do the B-Characters though.

They probably still have the relatively low sales figures of their original figures from the past in their head and think they won't sell now.

Thing is there are a lot more collectors now globally......:slap

This is of course if they even have the OT SW licence. Perhaps they only have Clone Wars, and boy they are really using that well !

I'd be happy to get a figure of Cassian Andor, but I'm sure one will be on the way when the show comes out.

Very fair point. Where the heck are those animated CW figures? They've had two windows of opportunity to put them up for pre-order: May 4th and Sideshow Con. They seemed so proud of them, there was a lot of interest in them, and it's a hole in the market waiting to be filled. I sometimes think that company is run by buffoons.

Age of the film doesn't matter, just potential sales volume and hype.
I remember Hasbro before specifically talked about how it’s sometimes easier to make an item if it falls under legacy media, so at least a few years after the relevant media has come out.

I think there’s an understanding by companies that make collectibles that interests can be cyclical.

Releasing or at least marketing the items have to either strike when the media is new and fresh, or enough time has passed for it to be at least slightly nostalgic or missed.

That is of course not true of everything. Somethings will fade into obscurity never to be seen again, discarded like Kylo Ren being yeeted into a big chasm by Palpatine.

But most anything that was generally well received has a chance as long as it feels like enough excitement and interest can be generated. The OT scooted along on that for decades.

I'm sure they'll give Cassian a cool look. Going by Fennec Shand not all characters change costume so often :)
I don't doubt Andor will have some interesting new looks in the series, He is a Rebel Spy (and if he's still taking orders from Draven an assassin), who tries to blend in, so he should have several new looks....

I do however still want one compatible with the R1 look and the other so far released figures.
The closer the better.
As well as Baze and Bodhi, to complete the main Rogue team,
( but in 1:6 scale)

who?

I know it's because they showed up in the Mandalorian, but HT did release the other 2 Shoretroopers from Rogue One which they initially showed prototypes of, so while it is a long shot with Baze it may not be totally impossible with hype on Cassian.

We just have to make it known on FB. They are not mind readers and only make figures when they see enough interest and a market for them.

Hope this is the case.
Not on facebook, don't intend to be. I guess I hope that HT visits here too.

They also made the RO Tank Trooper Commander.

I'm sure they'll find a way to cameo quite a few of the Rogue One characters in the series, even if they aren't directly interacting with Cassian himself.

I believe Alistair Petrie - General Draven has been confirmed
Duncan Pow as Ruescott Melshi
As well as Genevieve O'Reilly as Monmothma, her (and Bail Organa's) Rogue One appearance, are actually the likeness of them I would want most.
And of course Forest Whitaker will be reprising Saw Gerrera, so there is a good second chance at a figure.

And Bodhi with his full tech-vest and gear, and his crazy transmission-cable turtle-backpack!

Besides his turtle-backpack, did anyone else get a giant sea-turtle vibe from his stolen Cargo Shuttle? Did they have a not so subtle recurring turtle visual theme going on with Bodhi?. :lol

Draven, mon mothma, saw, and rebel fleet troopers would be amazing. They better get grogu into the cassian show so we can get 30 figures in a year! Add C3po to the list.

Oh yeah a Mon Mothma would be really cool. No idea with who she would stand with but it'd be one from left field.

Saw Gerrera would be so epic !! He's sure deserving of a figure at this point. Rogue One, Rebels, Kal Kestis game, probably others I've missed. Clone Wars I guess too right ?

So glad it'll probably get 2 seasons. makes the chances of figures like these also possible of course !!

1:6 Scale commissioned by a client - Geewhiz Customs: Cassian Andor (Rogue One)
not sure who commissioned it, or if they gave him a sculpted head, (anyone here?) would love to see it.
Although I would want him with the sniper-vest, and breakdown rifle too (and belt and holster)

Still emphasizes such a simple, straight forward look, materials and tailoring, feel like this would be such an easy turnover for HT.
Maybe (ironically) the problem was he is to basic? And HT felt he wouldn't stand out or have little presence on the shelf. As the next proto was Baze whose got a more eccentric look and gear (who I would want too)
Yet the whole point and theme of the character is he wasn't meant to be some exotic or stand out being, just the basic every-man, lost in the struggle, following orders, till he (and crew) find a greater purpose to make it all worth it, for those who do stand out.
Bodhi, even more so, just a cargo pilot in gray coveralls, who unfortunately is the least likley figure of the group, yet characters I'd appreciate most.

Wow looks very cool !! Wasn't me !!

I guess it could be argued that Jyn was also a pretty simple costume. However HT did manage to give her multiple looks, and lots of accessories which I really liked, and still remember unpacking.

Give Cassian those two looks above, and the blue parka. A few weapons and a good headsculpt and I'd be happy.

Baze with his huge gatling gun and red accents would be enough to look amazing !

Re: here for his thread.
According to some sources, George Lucas himself personally places great care to this Andor series. Plus I quite like Cassian's character in RO, a ruthless resistance spy, not everything is either black and white.
I’ve seen that too, that Lucas has been around a lot to help with the Andor series.

Do you have a source, citation, quote, link for that, thanks!

Andor is the show I’m most excited for. We get a chance for rebel and imperials we otherwise would have no shot at. It’s a shame we never got a cassian from rogue one. Due to this being set so close to the ot, we may have a shot at tie pilots, rebel pilots, mon mothma, draven, saw, the beloved Death Star trooper, baze (if he is in the show). Or, they will just make venomized death troopers.
Absolutely, when R1 showcased the Yavin base, it felt like the A New Hope camera just suddenly turned in a different direction, this franchise came to life again.
Don't know if Andor Rebels will be stationed on Yavin, Dantooine, or somewhere new, but I love seeing more of this era's Rebels.

Honestly (although people joked about it) I wished the Rogues had their own trilogy, zippered between the OT films.
R1, then R2. between ANH and ESB the Ord Mantell incident, spy mission and chase which leads to their ensconcing into planet Hoth. Then R3. between ESB and ROTJ obviously the Bothan Spy incident, recruiting them, and their sacrifice.
Don't know how much of those gaps were covered in ancillary material, but done right, would have made terrific film content.
Giving (the non Jedi focused war arc) the unsung Rebel spies , saboteurs, assassins, and Rogues, it's own trilogy.

As opposed to the Sequel Trilogy, where the Rebel base was just a re-use of the overly familiar RAF Greenham Common.

That took me even further out of the Star Wars universe. It was like a low budget set for an episode of Doctor Who.
