They did do the assault tank commander and the squad leader. I know it is because the grunt was in mandalorian, but they could have released just the grunt. I’ll keep up hope for baze and cassian because I am an idiot.

100% Cassian will get his Hot Toys figure treatment when his own series publicly aired. Baze Malbus on the other hand, nah.

This movie was so underrepresented figure wise. I’m sure it was simply a matter of the sell-through numbers not hitting HT’s threshold, which certainly makes sense from a business perspective. However, there should really be a second-tier producer for the SW license that can take on B-tier characters, aliens, creatures, droids and environments. Maybe that was meant to be Sideshow, and they simply tried and failed to compete head-to-head with HT. If SS won’t do it, give someone else a shot. I don’t know why HT should be the only game in town.

It all comes down to economics. Everyone would love B-tier characters but while core fans like us here on this thread would buy them, not many other people would. Well at least in the volumes needed to break even. This is why Hot Toys sticks predominantly to the main characters.

If there was easy money to be made Sideshow would still be doing it.

Don't know if you have ever sat down and worked out how much a figure costs to make ? I know I have for customs. There's not a lot of margin there at the end of the day. Plus the Disney licence fee is huge. Plus increasing wages in China etc etc etc. Everyone wants a piece of the pie.

So that's why we don't get any B-tier characters.

B-tier characters with headsculpts are almost never going to happen anymore unfortunately. People (including me) want Rebel Troopers but I literally don't think Hot Toys will ever do it since they cost so much to hand paint the heads. They can pump out Storm or Clone Troopers easily.

Sideshow screwed up by charging hot toys prices without the quality. I skipped a bunch of ss figures once hot toys got the license, because I thought I would just wait for hot toys. Boy was I wrong... sideshow should have priced figures around $150-175 and cranked out skiff guards, droids, and troopers. Anything hot toys wouldn’t touch. They don’t require many accessories and everyone wins. With all of the upcoming tv shows, I doubt we ever get greedo, 21b, nikto, or the cantina band from hot toys.

Sideshow has plenty they could reissue, creatures especially. The problem is they'll all be $250+ now even using old molds.

They'd still sell based on the crazy eBay prices.

I just think they're happier sitting back and being mostly a distributor for the 1:6 market than being a player. And they don't even do a particularly amazing job at that.

Yep. I think SS have worked out they can't compete against HT price wise and quality wise. So they revert to Statues, distribution and selling of their superior competitor HT products. Far easier money for them.

Plus if you distribute & sell you can monopolise the market, limiting volume to your other competitor sellers. It's perfect !!

It seems that way. That said they're on to a potential goldmine with the 1/6 animated figures. I just can't see Hot Toys touching those, and they're so different from anything else out there that there's really no competition. There's definitely an audience for that stuff. With the overwhelmingly positive reaction they received for those CW Anakin and Obi-Wan prototypes I'm surprised we're yet to see them go up for pre-order.

Yep, there is potential. Just a matter of them delivering on the final products without them being floppy, poorly painted messes…

Odd that there’s not been a peep about those figures since the reveal.

As tempting as they'd be to pre-order, I'd wait until release for the reasons you listed above.

I don't why, I have a feeling we'll see them again this summer alongside an animated season 3-5 Ahsoka. There may already be a couple of HT Ahsokas on the market, but no high-quality 1/6 animated version.

Sorry, I forgot we were in the Rogue One thread. Where's Hoody's ''Talk about whatever the f**k you want'' thread?

Yep, I’ve been advising the same. They’re no chance they’ll sell out before release. Best to wait for other folks to get it first.

The absence of any higher end TCW Ahsoka specific merchandise for all this time has been very strange.

There are Season 7 items now like the Hot Toys Figure and GG bust and statue, but nothing really from earlier appearances. Just the Koto ArtFX+ and EFX lightsaber.

I have hope they’ll done one with the Sideshow line. It’ll sell, even with multiple Ahsoka figures on the market.

And I think every thread is talk about whatever the **** you want thread now. We’re all lost without the next release

That show is a vein of gold waiting to be tapped, especially with the animated figures. It's surprising it's taken even 1/12 companies like Hasbro so long to realise this. The show has always been popular, so all I can think is they were waiting for one company to open the floodgates for the others. Maybe the higher-end collectible companies didn't realise it was $250 per figure popular until season 7. Let's hope Sideshow doesn't screw this up. It's 50/50 as to whether they will.

Even in a realistic line there are so many PT crossover figures Hot Toys could potentially do. There's room for both companies to do their own thing, and I'm surprised we've seen a fall-off in CW figures over the last few months. Maybe now they're wrapping up the Mandalorian season 2 line, and a few CW figures are releasing, we'll start to see some more put up for pre-order. Off the top of my head figures that tick both the PT and CW boxes are Geonosis Padme, Mace WIndu, Grievous, Jar-Jar, Plo Koon, Kit Fisto, Aayla Secura, Luminara Unduli, Barriss Offee, Ki-Adi Mundi, Shaak Ti, the 212th, Cmmdr. Bly, Cmmdr. Gree, B1 Battle Droids, Super Battle Droids, Droidekas, and Aurra Sing. There'll be others I'm forgetting. I think nearly all of those would sell well as they have appeal to different audiences: those who like the PT, those who like CW, and those who like both. Sideshow could then focus on doing animated versions of characters like Ventress, Savage, Hondo, and Cad Bane that Hot Toys are less likely to touch (sadly).

Now I've gone way off the Rogue One topic. So, I'll make a lame attempt at connecting it. Bring on Baze!!!

I do think it's tragic we don't have the full R1 main crew.

Rogue One:
1. Cassian Andor (include sniper vest and rifle)
2. Baze Malbus (as seen in proto)
3. Bodhi Rook (include tech vest transmission cable-backpack)

Wife just asked why I’m crying. I showed her the second pic with the baze prototype. I called it the one that got away. She is probably regretting some of her personal life choices right now.
well, that makes 2 of us...

Also, baze being upfront in all of the promotional material is similar to what is happening with general kenobi. Not good...
Re: here, since it's their actual thread.
That the Baze went un-produced is incredibly frustrating.

And while the Andor series might get us a Cassian figure, not sure if it will regenerate interest in the R1 line?
Cassian if done will likely have a somewhat new look. As the Rebels jump about, they tend to redress to somewhat parallel their location.

I really want them to finish the main Rogues, as they appeared in R1.
Baze exactly as shown in the proto.
And Andor with the sniper vest, and breakdown rifle.

Another (although even harder sell) alternate his (rather grim intro) first appearance, Ring of Kafrene assassin look, with the leather(ish) jacket, and satchel.

And Bodhi with his full tech-vest and gear, and his crazy transmission-cable turtle-backpack!

I'm sure they'll give Cassian a cool look. Going by Fennec Shand not all characters change costume so often :)

I know it's because they showed up in the Mandalorian, but HT did release the other 2 Shoretroopers from Rogue One which they initially showed prototypes of, so while it is a long shot with Baze it may not be totally impossible with hype on Cassian.

We just have to make it known on FB. They are not mind readers and only make figures when they see enough interest and a market for them.

Age of the film doesn't matter, just potential sales volume and hype.

The age of films only matter when they're popcorn movies like Marvel :sneaky: Star Wars is timeless... unless it's the ST, which was never in time in the first place.

They also made the RO Tank Trooper Commander.

I'm sure they'll find a way to cameo quite a few of the Rogue One characters in the series, even if they aren't directly interacting with Cassian himself.

Is the show more than one season btw? I'm guessing this one will be. I know the first season is 12 episodes, which is equivalent to 1.5 seasons of Mando.

Oh yeah true. The Tank trooper !!

Really 12 episodes for Cassian ! That is unheard of for Disney+ !!

To me that's an indication it'll only be 1 season. However if it's a success, then money talks and S2 could be a goer.
