I was struck by a poll at Coming Soon which listed next summer's big movies:

2012
Angels & Demons
Bruno
District 9
Fast & Furious
Final Destination 4
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Land of the Lost
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian
Public Enemies
Star Trek
The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3
Terminator Salvation
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Up
X-Men Origins: Wolverine

I don't want to tempt fate, but doesn't it seem like 2009/2010 is going to be a lot easier on the wallet than 2008? No big superhero movie except Wolverine and Watchmen, no big Lucas/ Spielberg offering, no Spider-Man, no big sequels or threequels except Transformers, nothing REALLY iconic...sure, if you're a Wolverine or Star Trek fan you can expect to spend some money, but I'm currently expecting an easy year. Avatar's an unknown quantity, and if HT do Watchmen I'll want a HT Rorshach, but otherwise I think it'll be a year to enjoy the figures I already have rather than shell out on new ones. This year's been ridiculous (HT Superman, Batman, Indiana Jones stuff...).

Of the list you have given us I am keen to see
2012
Fast and Furious
Terminator Salvation
Transformers Rise of the Fallen and
X-Men Origins: Wolverine

They all seem to be promising films :D

Other than Terminator and probably Harry Potter because of the Mrs.. I don't think I will care to see any of the rest.

I don't buy every single piece of pop culture-based collectible in existence, so yeah I'll be fine as usual.

There's a couple there that I'll see on DVD, but nothing there is going to tempt me out to the cinema. Maybe HT will get the licence for Terminator Salvation and produce a great Arnie figure, assuming there's some kind of cameo in it?

Lots on that list for me. Been a solid run latley for trips to the movies so I'm glad to see it will continue.

No way, I've got stuff already on order through second quarter, (not that I'll be able to afford them all, but I won't have any extra money).

Plus the Serenity replica will be out sometime next year and that'll probably be like $1,000

Not likely. 2009 already has a full handfull of Enterbay figures I'm interested in, so far. Then there's the rest.

Are we talking about speding money on movie going or collectibles? As for movies there isn't too much on the list there for me Harry Potter is the only thing I will definitely see, Transformers is a good possibility, I enjoyed the first one, and I may see Wolverine since I liked the first three X-Men movies, but I'm not a huge Wolverine fan so we'll see. As for collectibles 2009 is looking alot cheaper. I don't currently have anything scheduled to come in 2009 (Indy and Ki Adi are the last things I have on pre-order). Although I am looking at getting the Mark II Iron Man.

I was thinking about this the other day, actually, and yes I think I'll get some much-needed relief in '09.

Apart from a few preorders that will arrive in the first quarter of next year, there isn't much being announced in terms of film and entertainment related collectibles that I'm going after.

However, you never know when a company like Hot Toys will drop the A-Bomb of product announcements, so we're never really safe.

Relief in 2009? For me? The Year of WATCHMEN?? :lol

Watchmen is the only thing I have real interest in. I still don't need to buy every single thing they slap the Watchmen name on, though.

And there are still all the Iron Man and Dark Knight HT figures yet to be released. And who knows what else they'll announce next. More than likely Watchmen.

For me it s Enterbays "24" Bauer and Palmer and Bruce Lee Kato,Sideshows 1/1 Iron man bust,Hot Toys Predator and commandos hopefully Iron Monger ,and Go Hero Flash Gordon.1/18 model cars,Autoart Koenigsegg CCX and Exoto Rolls Royce Phantom. All subject to me continuing to enjoy full time employment of course!!

1:6th scale and Hot Toys or a good SSC production from:

Star Trek
Terminator Salvation
X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Hellboy 2
Star Wars

Those are my New Years resolutions and Im sticking to em, gonna have too !

Heck, even if it is a light year (which I still don't think it will) there's always playing catch-up on stuff you might have missed out on :lol

Did you just type all this out, or do you keep a spreadsheet with stuff you've got on order?
