Sculpted does look really good. I want to pick up the sculpted hair headsculpt just to have it in case something were to potentially go wrong with the Artisan sculpt down the road.

I think you will see a flood of the Artist Editions on the bay with people trying to flip it. This figure is overhyped to the max right now and overpriced as such, there's FOMO to keep the orders and sell it.

There will be cancels due to funds as well. But this reeks of massive flip listings at release, be fun to see the listing eating themselves to keep going lower and lower to dump it initially.
Oh yes no doubt! Same thing happened with InArt’s TDK Joker. I still remember ppl successfully selling the InArt sculpt(s) by themselves for about $800 each on eBay.

I just spoke to a gentleman I know at Toy Sapiens in Shibuya, and he told me that HT was a little surprised about the demand for this figure and artisan Anakin, and that since these aren’t individually numbered releases, they can and have said that they’re going to be making/providing additional units.
Obviously I can’t personally vouch for that information, but there’s no real reason for him to mislead me.
So I would urge everyone to do their best to be patient and not pay wild scalper prices for this stuff out of FOMO, he made it sound like HT wants everyone’s money 😂

With the exclusivity being a marketing point for the Artisan line -- and at least implicitly a reason for the elevated prices -- that would be such a shady move and just give ammunition to folks who already feel HT has done them wrong... which is exactly why I believe they'd do it, tbh.

I can't pretend some selfish part of me wouldn't be at least a little annoyed, but by the same token, I buy figures because I want them and not as a function of their value. If HT has the capacity to offer more Artisan figures without compromising quality, then I'm always happy to see more people able to get what they want.

Right, hard not to see it that way, and I pretty much agree. I don’t collect anything for monetary value, so I’d also be happy to see more people able to get these.
Hot Toys kind of shot themselves in the foot with supposedly making them limited. It doesn’t surprise me that they see any kind of third party transactions as leaving money on the table, either.
And either way, HT is going to pull an HT, right? What are the options, they either end up making more of something than they initially announced and piss people off, or they re-release artisan figures with minor changes and also piss people off.
It wouldn’t have taken a fortune teller to help them realize that if they start doing rooted hair pretty well that people are going to want them.

Well yeah jumping back into the classics was a cash grab to begin with after ignoring everything but Marvel and SW and nu DC for so long. They have produced or are in the process of producing a lot of admittedly great looking figures of characters that a lot of people don't want (nu SW/nu Marvel/nu DC) and that tooling ain't cheap.

They are looking for "hit$".

I am on the side that highly anticipates more artisan jokers….less production and more reuse to avoid the backlog of stuff that doesnt sell. If their normal sales allottment is 15000 figures per character, instead of one mass drop of regular joker, you’ll see the same amt just under exclusive releases of different versions nurse, bank robber etc .

This was adressed fairly early, they announced 4000 for Joker and 3000 for Anakin, with I think 200 extra for Joker and 100 extra units for Anakin added to the batches due to the frenzy for those two, so 4200 and 3100 final editions. I do not remember off the top of my head but I think this was announced before they went up for preorder even or shortly after. Do not wait for more artisan copies to be put up for sale, I am 95% sure these are already added to the production run, for figures such as these having to remake additional units after the run is finished is too huge a cost. I think what's already out there of the rooted copies is all we will get.

There already was a special edition artisan Joker, but probably getting a Nurse/Jail exclusive version down the road. And next year is Revenge of the Sith 25th anniversary and everyone knows that means artisan Dark side Anakin, that one is 100%

Making more after announcing it is a limited run never sits right with me. Just don't say it's limited, don't lie to your customers by trying to FOMO them.

I completely agree but let’s not forget this is the same company that just teased a new Deadpool with the unmasked headsculpt even before people are getting the first version.

It honestly wouldn’t even surprise me if they produced more and just never said anything. Hot Toys is a shady company unfortunately.

They would be drinking their own poison if they did, I am 100% sure if they say something is limited it is limited, only thing that is strange is they announce the edition sizes but does not number them, probably will in the future.

Increasing the volume also equates to lower unit cost if they are effective at running production. So that should also lower the PPU for an item. But I am sure they are not going to go back and discount $25 on everyone’s AE Joker.

Slippery slope, they need to number these if that’s the direction even if it’s solely for piece of mind of the buyer. Nothing is stopping them from make three #12s as it’s impossible to audit the real numbers but if there’s a litter of them on sale sites you would know they are manipulating production on highly sought after pieces I guess.

The hell, didn't realize these weren't numbered. They did number figures back in the day with some limited figures like the demon bat/scarecrow combo, thought these artisans would be the same.

The only HT figures I can remember being numbered (with CoA) are the original MMS13 Batman Begins, the MMS14 Superman Returns V1 and single release Clark Kent.
