I can't look at this guy without hearing the Black Sabath song from the trailer. :rock

Re: Will hot toys make a Mark 1?

Dammit, I can't afford another figure this season. Damn you, Hot Toys...
The Mark II isn't expected until 2nd Quarter of '09 according to SSC, so this one will likely not be released before that time.

Re: Will hot toys make a Mark 1?

Looks amazing. Face sculpt is off but I'll have the mask down so it doesn't really bother me. I'll be very impressed if the final product looks like this.

Re: Will hot toys make a Mark 1?

I'm actually glad this and the MKII won't be in this years budget! I can breathe more. ;)

Re: Will hot toys make a Mark 1?

The wait will suck, but knowing that I can save up a little more for this will be worth it. I would guess this price point to be close to 179.00 - 189.00. I don't see him going for 250.00. The size doesn't seem to warrant the higher price point, and other complicated figures retail around this price. Just my guess though.

Re: Will hot toys make a Mark 1?

Guess we'll find out soon.
If they are charging this guy for $199 I don't think $250 is out of the question.
Either way I hope I don't succumb so I can start recuperating from my TDK purchases....

Size isn't as much the issue as specific tooling that is involved. The amount of detail on this guy is staggering and there appear to be a lot of individual parts and a lot of paint work. On top of that its pretty unlikely they will be able to make a 2nd version of this guy so all the R&D goes into one figure.

I still say a minimum of $200... maybe up to $250.

I agree. I would imagine that it'll light up as well so that'll definitely bump up the price.

And as Galactiboy this will most likely be the only version released so they'll need to charge more for it (vs. Mark II and Mark III which has a lot of shared parts).

Another product to think about is the Batpod. Before specs for the Batpod came out I was estimating a price tag of about $150......in the end it came out to about $300 :google

Re: Will hot toys make a Mark 1?

Without looking at prices, I was comparing this to other one-off figures, but I guess even stuff that immediately jumped to mind (like Alien Kane and Dallas) get a decent amount of reuse. There is very little chance that they can use any of these parts again, so I probably underestimated...Even ED-209 got a second-chance on life with some Battle-Damage!

Re: Will hot toys make a Mark 1?

Ahhhhh darn......the pics are so tempting. And if I get this one I'll have to get the Mark II as well. Sigh......I'm not even a huge Iron Man fan :google

Re: Will hot toys make a Mark 1?

It looks cool but an EASY pass for me, I already have II & III on preorder so if I don't have this I won't be missing much. Does anyone else think the human head of Downey looks a but chubby?

I think the likeness is great... especially for him having been in captivity for a while. Looks pissed, but also a bit sickly. Didn't look chubby to me.
