Yes, it's that time again for the Microsoft Windows bi-update fail.

I don't think I could possibly hate this OS on a desktop more. If this is the future of Windows, Win 7 will be my last upgrade before going to Mac. I would say I will miss playing PC games, but this has the look of the final nail in the coffin for PC gaming. So, that's likely moot anyway.

From a business perspective, I recommend Microsoft fully finishes this OS, spending every dime they normally would on any other 80% finished Windows release. Then, declare it released, and immediately delete the entire thing from existence and start on Windows 9. Don't print it to discs, or sell it in downloads. Just trash it.

Looks fantastic to me. The legacy support is going to hold Microsoft back though. They need to tell people to evolve or GTFO, but Microsoft doesn't have the balls to do it.

It's not a desktop or laptop OS. Trying to use a mouse to emulate finger movements is going to be a miserable user experience. If this were tablet only, I might think it's so-so. For my desktop, I'm not buying or using a 24" touch screen 2 feet from me. It's complete fail IMO. The desktop looks like you threw a bunch of coupons on a table and tried to make them resemble a Piet Mondrian painting.

Found rumor of "has an app to switch seamlessly between this and the regular windows desktop". I hope this is true.

I won't be buying any new OS from MS anytime soon. Lucky I got Window 7 from work and I am grateful for it. If this is some kind of a touch screen OS then I won't have to worry since I have no need for it. Don't see why I'll be touching my screen with my bare hand. Window 7 should've been Vista. What a mess.

Makes sense for tablets and phones. Not sure who'd use it for desktop/laptop PCs though.

I've had a touchscreen PC for over 2 years and I love it. This will be great for it. And as for using your mouse, it works just as well with the mouse as it does with your fingers. And I use the mouse and my fingers for gaming. Both work great. I think the only PCs that will have Windows 8 installed will be touchscreens.

I haven't even upgraded to Windows 7 yet. I'm still using Vista.

I am not seeing where the use of the mouse will require simulating the movement of fingers. I am betting it will be clickable like a regular OS.

At any rate I neither hate nor like it. I see it simply as the evolution of PC using and we will adjust or fall behind.

I have been looking in to a touch screen PC lately anyway. I guess I will put it off until this OS is released. Then I will do as I always do...and that is to buy a system that is completely cutting edge in every aspect and then sit on it for 5 years or more before I feel a need to upgrade.
