During tough economic times, lipstick has traditionally been an affordable indulgence for budget-minded women. But insiders in the cosmetics and beauty industries said demand for nail polish has lately surged to the highest levels in memory as the economic slowdown persists.

"Demand for nail polish has been phenomenal for more than a year now," said Allen Ash of Almar Sales, a New York-based accessories and cosmetics maker. "It's amazing you don't hear more people talking about it."

Probably scaling back the manicures.

I'll make sure my wife gets the memo. We're still blowing $40 a month on her lovely nails (thought they do have their benefits).

it matters because you have to flow with the times and since it's the holiday season and if you have any females on your gift giving list this would make a good present at a cheap price for you. everyone wins
