Holy crap took me til now to catch up. So glad the ES talk has evolved to comics lol

Definitely hahaha... The old comics cover are awesome, are there reprints or printed art cover for the important old issues (can't afford, so just want make a frame cover of them :) )

9.9 and 10 grades are so subjective imo I don't even bother looking for them. To me any, especially with silver/bronze age books if I can get an 8.0 or better thats fantastic.

True say. Love the rarity factor but I'll settle with a 9.8 any day.

Yeah you could find them online or just ask Josh to make you a few. He's pretty sick at it

So collecting statues for rarity isn't cool but collecting an expensive comic you'll probably never take out the plastic protection is?

:monkey3

I know this probably wasn't directed at me but, I actually collect runs of comics, not just an issue here and there. I have decent runs on Daredevil, Punisher, Moon Knight, The Flash, Green Lantern and of course..Batman.

'Twas a joke :hi5:

I don't care what anyone collects, each to their own.

I agree. I had a copy of Chew # 1 in 9.9 and 9.8, and I couldn't tell the difference. But, I kept the 9.9 and sold the 9.8. Chew is a damn fine series, and is one example of a modern comic that has a high value (along with the Walking Dead).

ASM 300 I think is a prime example of demand driving up the price. Like you said, it's not very rare. If you want a 9.8, you don't have to look very long or hard to find one...it's only a matter of ponying up the cash (on a side note, this book has seen a nice increase in value the last little while...the last few years it was very affordable, it dropped down in the $400's, even $300's...back up in the $600 to $700 range now). This comic is a flagship for argument AGAINST the crowd that insist a high ES for a statue makes it worthless...they are forgetting the other prime economic driving force...DEMAND!

When talking about the rare silver age books, if you can get an 8.0 or better, you're laughing...that's a great copy. My ASM # 1 is a 6.0, and it is even a damn fine looking copy. As I said, I'm looking in the 5's for my AF15, and most of those look great, too. Below 5, and things can start to get sketchy.

I bought the first appearance of Carnage at the local supermarket when I was a kid.

There is a local store around here that has a comic book shelf that is like walking into the 90's. They had maybe 20 of those issues (ASM 361, I believe), and they were all pretty much in mint. I bought a bunch, sent them of to CGC, and sold them at a nice profit...kept one 9.8 for myself, though.

Wow, the EX on WW is 1,500 more than Batman...

I don't care about ES, but that's really surprising, considering the character.. I guess she is that good. :lol

Maybe if you get a low ES number they care enough for quality before they give up on it by the time they get to 2985?

There's no reason for a large ES piece to be sloppy.
Painting is their job, if they weren't painting loads of these they would be painting something else.

You saying the first few cars off a production line are better than the ten thousandth?
If someone is producing sloppy paint, to the first or last, they need to be sacked.

Whatever it is - All ( ALL ) of SS last pieces had QC issues.
Whatever the reason is, I hope they fix it. I've already cut down my orders 50-60%.
Huge ES is a bit of an extra-bummer for me, as I like my items to be a bit more rare.
