This does seem like a neat idea, and not to rain on anybody's parade, but
just something to think about: Sideshow or another company may come
out with this item in the future. I usually restrict commissions to items that
I'm pretty sure that won't ever see the light of day by any of the normal/big
companies (bowen, sideshow, hard hero, etc....)

The reason I mention it is that the cost of a private commission can be up
there, and it'd kinda suck to spend a lot on something like this, only to have
a production piece come out that would end up being less expensive.

Having said all that - Good luck on it! I'm sure it'll look great, and the only
thing that could make it better would be if it were in 1/4 scale.

JS :)

Kit will be between 200 and 250 $ +/-

As for the painting from Saul...Dont know...well have to ask him in due time. My estimation for a piece big as this is at least 300$.

I don't know who the sculptor is but his work is incredible! [Note to SS.....hire this guy!!] and I am considering this as well. I've seen some of Saul's work, and it's top-notch!, but I think it's gonna cost somewhere in the $400 range to get him to paint it.

You really start to appreciate SC prices when you see how much $$$ it cost to make one and have it painted!

the bigger the edition size to lower they can price it, the commission piece will be costly because (I think) at most 50 will be made

I think it's a great idea. I love the picture we are going off. I want to be one of the 50 to have one, if it's that low quantity.

True....not only that, you're getting it painted by a top notch artist instead of some guy slapping on paint in a Chinese sweatshop....er factory. Never has the phrase "you get what you pay for" taken on a greater meaning than when you see the difference between a custom paint job and SS's assembly line paint app's.

true, but can you send it back for a replacement if you aren't happy with the paint job or if it arrives broken?? i know you can insure it, but dont you have to turn it over to collect the insurance money??

I have had several item's custom painted in the past and the painters I've used have always provided me with photo's during every step of the process. This ensure's you get it painted exactly the way you want, absolutely no surprises. As for damage during shipping there will always be some risk, though any customs I've ever had shipped were so well protected someone would have had to deliberately try and damage them.
