I'm just curious if they will try to follow the same style of story telling (hopping around from scenario to scenario) or just focus on one particular group/person with nods to other things going on.

What I think would be awesome is if book was made into a TV series (HBO, or some other company that could do it right) and they treated each section of the book as a half hour or hour long show. That way they could cover the entire novel (even sequentially) and not leave anything out. Some ____ like that could be epic.

^^This would be cool. I thought of this back when I read that Zombieland was actually intended to be a mini-series when the creators pitched it. Obviously it didn't get approved, but I still thought that if Spike/HBO/Showtime tried doing it that it would be awesome.

Now THAT would be an epic win!

We need to start pitching this to cable studios now!!! :lol

Yeah, the book is a bit disjointed to work as a film. I figure they will take liberties, and focus on one or two sections at the expense of the others. Probably focus on the military component, at least.

That's kind of my guess for what they'll do... probably follow the soldier who was first introduced speaking about the "Battle of Yonkers" and give nods to other scenes while mainly focusing on that arc.

The serial television zombie series is, I think, a great idea (in part because I've wished for it for several years now :D ), but we'll have to wait and see how well Walking Dead does before any other channel will take that risk, I think. If Walking Dead succeeds, and World War Z as a film succeeds, we might see some Max Brooks produced serial drama on HBO or Showtime. Which I think could be great.

So this is an actual serious book?? I remember seeing it at Borders and thought it was like the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies book. Might have to check this one out.

Have to agree, its really impressive. I was most impressed by the scope of the story.

My wife also loved it :rock

I need to pick this book up on audio so I can check it our while I'm here at work. Sound good so far though!

7 weeks? That means a complete rewrite, doesn't it? Guess whatever they took from the book will most likely get thrown out the door now.
