No Jack Bauer till fall or next year?

:monkey2

That sucks...

Maybe Sideshow will announce a p.f. Jack Bauer at Toy*Fair to make it up to me...

Yeah, I was expecting that...

:monkey4

I was pumped for this season too. Especially after I saw the preview clip a couple months ago...

Yeah, me too. But I guess in the long run it may be good for the series. I know some people were starting to get a little burnt out on it, and maybe the year off will re-energize the fans. At least that's what I'm hoping :D.

Looks like the Strike is over. Details coming...

Basically the WGAw held a meeting tonight and the terms were favorably received. WGA members will be voting over the next 48 hrs to determine whether the Stike should be lifted. WGAe Members had their meeting this morning, same results.

My guess is that they'll keep what they've got, and just pick up the filming from there. But I'm not entirely sure. If they go for the fall "mini-season", will the plot outline be able to be squeezed into 12 or fewer hours (I know they have 8 hours completed, but how many more would they need to conclude the story arc)? Or would they be able to come up with a quick cliff-hanger that could lead into the next full season?

Too many unanswered questions right now. Hopefully we'll get some more details over the next couple of weeks.

Days! Next couple of days!!!

:lol

Well, they've gotta have time to catch up on email, office gossip, and all of that stuff first, right?

Seriously, I'm sure there will be lots of meetings and strategy sessions this week, but it may take some time to come up with something that everyone believes will tells the story in a way that a) they want it told, and b) fans will be pleased with. If that takes a week or two, I won't complain.

Much.

Thank God.... maybe now I can get the rest of the BSG episodes for the last season... just so my wife won't lose her mind. :lol

Look, I doubt that the writers could start back at 100% speed the day after the strike ends. But, let's not forget, most of writing is a cerebral thing. And, what did these guys have to do while picketing (I mean from a mental standpoint, not as a personal attack)? I am sure many of the writers with permanent gigs already have a few episodes worked out in their heads ... probably doing a little writing on the side to be ready for the return to work. I doubt we have any new stuff this season, but it looks like the Fall has been saved. Thanks goodness. The real test will be how much of a drop off in viewer turnout there will be. Movies were safe, since the strike really didn't affect current releases. But, TV went cold and dead ... or reality which is the same thing. How many people out there went cold turkey and realized, "Hell, I watch too much TV as it is." I am not naive enough to think TV will fall apart. But, part of me wants the ratings for TV as a whole to drop long enough to show Hollywood we aren't the TV "crack-addicts" they think we are.

They're already saying that TV "seasons" as we have known them may be a thing of the past because of the strike. The pipeline is now full of reality and game shows and people are watching them. The scripted series is even more in danger than it was before.

I refuse to believe a glut of reality is what the American public really wants. As a recent sitcom character put it, "if I want to see two idiots argue for 30 minutes, I will just sit on my porch and watch the neighbors." I can understand stuff like Dancing with the Stars or American Idol. Not my cup of tea, but it's the Star Search of this generation. But how many episodes of idiots answering questions hooked up to a lie detector can a person take? Or that insipid mother/daughter pageant drek? It may be misfounded, but I think America is smarter than that.
