Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

Darioz,
since you signed for the letters Paypal might just refuse to refund you.
Even if you have proof that it's just papers and ____ you got.
Happened to me once, when i received an empty box.
They started to bust my balls, even if i hadproof and all they said i should have checked the content before signing (like everoby said before in this same thread) so i just told them i will file a claim at the police and send them a copy.
Got a refund right away.

As I've stated. PayPal has a "Significantly not as Described" policy. They cannot claim the content was lost in transit by sending an empty box as the seller classified the shipment as 'documents'. I have already contacted the HK police, and notified PayPal.

Considering the amount of people affected by this, and that the PayPal account owner is now facing serious criminal charges, I've great confidence that I'll manage to get my money back.

Besides, what if I did what the previous poster did? Return the documents without signing for it? I would perhaps have gotten my money back quicker, but I would have no solid proof that this was indeed a scam and not just a botched shipment.

They could have prolonged this scam for weeks, luring money from other unsuspecting collectors. Just hours after I filed the complaint and reported the incident with the local police, the site is now taken down and the owners under criminal investigation. I say that it was worth that risk.

How would it help their case in any way?

well, people who got their figures too can file for a claim saying they got a box full of crap, let the sellers go to hell :rotfl

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

PayPals main concerns are:

1. Is there a tracking number
2. When we track that number does it say the item has been delivered

If anyone receives an envelope or really light box, do not sign for it. Significantly not as described is a crap shoot. No one should ever think PayPal will just come and save you. Be careful.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

Hi
I joined this site after searching the name of that site.
I made my decision of buying because of the earlier posts of people
that actually received the figures.
Its been one almost one week since I ordered from that site.
They didn't even ship the figure. Last time I've heard from them in like 2 days ago when I asked if they shipped my item. they responded (will ship on Tuesday) I contacted them today but no response.

what should I do now? what should I write in the paypal claim?

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

Ifonly,
don't write a novel, say the items has not been shipped you're getting no answer and you suspect that it's a scam.
Escalate to claim as fast as you can.

Darioz,
Paypal is a bizness not a charity, like insurance companies if they can avoid having to give you money they will. Whatever the excuse.
I say add a police claim won't hurt to your cases.
But thanks for thinking about the others by not returning/refusing the documents.

Yes, this applies in normal cases, such as eBay transactions where the seller disputes your claim. However, PayPal will not be able to get a dispute from this seller, as he will not be accessing his account anymore. Considering the amount of claims amassing, I'd say that would be very foolish.

If they don't get a response from the seller within a certain amount of days, they will award the dispute to the claimant. Worst case, the seller demands his "documents" back, in which case I'll gladly pay the return shipping (lol).

To the people who did not receive their items. Which PayPal account did you receive your invoice from?

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

Mine was peter Halasz. I told paypal that I never received the item. They said not to accept a package if its a scam, they will look into it further and most likely rule in my favor.

Same for me,
Peter Halasz / [email protected]

I just put the claim on Paypal and I also reported the crime to the HK authorities.

Thanks for the help Darioz and to other helpful users!

the invoice on the left was the first one i got for scarecrow and jack sparrow free shipping 400 dollars. the payment was reversed (january 20th) and they never informed me. when i complained on the forums, in this thread they sent me an email, with a bs explanation and told me to delete my post on the the forums. the guy even called me but the number showed up on my phone as unknown.

the paypal invoice on the right is one they sent me recently by mistake basically 3 batman dx09 for 575 dollars. i cancelled the invoice and just to make myself clear i never asked for this second invoice. i have placed the order for my dx09 from sideshow.

these guys used several different paypal addresses. harder to hold all their money now if they have spread their bets.

seeing as i am a "new" user my comments might not have much weight to them, but at least i am doing my part. which is reporting my experience on this subject. everybody has the right to draw whatever conclusions they want from this information.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

I was close to buying a DX Joker from them since they accepted my offer of $350. I'm so glad I didn't. It sounds like the rest of you for the most part have yourselves covered for getting refunds, and good work getting the website taken down too.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

3 DX-09s for $575?!?!? Yeah f'n right.

I love how this thread was started off as "Scammer Hot Toys store" then the mods changed it to be more innocuous. . . despite all signs pointed to it being a scam. Now it's completely obvious it's always been a scam.

I hope it was shut down by the Hong Kong Police so no one else will be harmed by those bastards.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

Man this is really depressing, so should I bother to wait to see what type of packages I'll get in a few days or should I just file a claim immediately?

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

I would say don't wait anymore like these guys said. I've escalated it to a claim. I've put in the notes possible fraud site no longer available. I really feel for everybody that has been taken. Without threads like this who knows how many more possible victims could have been taken.

File it immediately! Your large order is probably one of the scammers main targets. File it and if your lucky, PayPal will hold the transaction before it's cleared in the sellers local bank. When did you place the order?

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

I was about to pay them 450 usd for a BSAA Jill and RPD Leon u.u *sighs* guess it really WAS too good to be true... At least i didnt send them anything.
I guess i should explain a bit further my "experience" with them. I was planning on buying both said figures, and i asked if i could reserve leon because i didnt have all the money right now, and they said i could and that they'd even give me free EMS shipping for both figures, and I live in Argentina so shipping is more expensive, which seemed a bit weird, and today i got the invoice to reserve the figures, luckily i was still deciding whether or not to pay them because it was really too good to be true, and then i read this, thank God.

One other thing i noticed, is that as i didnt know about this whole thing going on, and sent them emails asking to buy figures, they replied everything right away, so i suppose they do check which emails are for new customers and which for claims u.u

These are the data i have from the paypal invoice they sent me, from what i've read so far in the thread, it's another name entirely..
