It's hilarious to think he dumped X-Men to go make that bomb, and now he's crawled back to X-Men :lol

Pretty much. He did what in the meantime? Superman Returns and Jack and the Giantslayer? :lol

While Vaughan went from Kick *** 1 to X-Men First Class. I think they should have left Vaughan in control, he has a very good style that fits comic book movies. His style seems to work well with casual moviegoers without upsetting comic fans.

:exactly:

First Class was well beyond my expectations.

Ah yes, I did notice this when watching it! I thought you meant there was part of the theme explicitly included in the movie's soundtrack somewhere. But I agree this is definitely similar!

As Plissken said, it's enough. Verbatim, honestly, would've been stupid. This is enough of a nod that those who enjoyed the animated series recognize it, but not so "kiddie" as to detract from the score of the film which is geared toward an older audience.

Financially, though, when you look at the numbers, Vaughan's First Class underperformed all but the first X-Men movie.

Maybe to fry makers at McDonalds, but those are the same brains that would tell you Superman Returns was good bank, because their brains can't process beyond looking up a box office total on google. :lol

all right this I like you see more color in the pic

I like the helmet, really gonna wait to see how the rest of that looks onscreen before I pass judgement, but... meh

Unfortunately, it's $$$ that runs the movie industry and not the small, fanboy desires of a few dorks on an internet forum (myself included in that). :(

I don't think it's a coincidence that the lowest grossing X-Men movie only had a small cameo by Wolverine, whereas he was the star or close to being the star of all the others That is to say, I wouldn't toss too much blame on Vaughn there. My guess is expectations weren't too too high considering the about face that film took relative to the others. I also think it was the best made film of the franchise, though it isn't my favorite.

I used Returns as example cause of an article one of the investor sites (maybe Forbes) ran a few years back with an analysis of how big a fail Superman Returns was and how "idiots" who google box office totals didn't understand why it didn't get a sequel immediately when it supposedly made tons of cash. The bottom line is even though its box office was WB's "best of the year" Happy feet got a nod for a sequel. Happy Feet had less production costs, made about 150 mil more in the home sales, and performed above board on licensing, syndication etc... whereas Superfail Returns had hideous video sales, its video games had record low sales and shelf sat, it syndicated for below the average and had piss poor toys/merch sales.

Anyways, apples and oranges to an extent, but the point is, their "best selling" box office movie of 2006 was *** raped by hundreds of millions by singing and dancing penguins, but to a ******* and google, they just can't understand why it wasn't a success.

My guess is that regardless of your googled box office findings, First Class did well enough to set in motion them being included in the original X-Men's big screen return for a reason.

Remember that they need to keep making X-movies or the license reverts back to Marvel (which I think would be best for us all). So don't think that First Class has as much to do with it as you'd hope. I loved the movie, and I couldn't believe where it sat on Box Office Mojo (not google) as I'd thought surely Origins would be below it, especially after the internet leak. But it is what it is, and my guess is that the cast of the original is getting fairly tired and with the money they've already invested in First Class, they need to make it work, which is why we're getting DoFP, as FOX is hoping to bring the box office of the older series into the First Class element in hopes of getting back those $400mil paydays. It's also why, regardless of how much pturtle wants to believe otherwise, Jackman's at the forefront vs. Kitty. He's FOX's RDJ. You need to take the fanboy out of the equation and look at it from a business perspective because Hollywood only cares about the numbers. :lol
