I'm picking up my copy (for the XB360) tongiht on the way home.

I've been playing the 1994 classic original I purchased from Valve's STEAM service.

Very unlikely, but I hope to see some collectibles from this game in the way of 1:6 figures (very unlikely) or some statues.

I have a friend who went AWOL from life when this game came out.

Is it good? From the synopsis and information I really can't see the attraction. Am I wrong?

Yes. The story is cheesy all hell, but the gameplay is rock solid. Challenging, sometimes brutal, but (most of the time) fair and always engaging. Never played a turnbased RTS before, but this sucked me right in. One of the better games I've played in 2012, and I didn't really expect anything from this.

If you do play this, never, EVER let one of your guys run ahead. Unless you want to experience that feeling of dread when you see him run right into three alien squads, and your turn ends...

God I love how this game makes you so attached to your soldiers and how it makes you go "NO GODDAMNIT" when they die. :lol

This game is super hardcore and old school fun, it's all about the gameplay here, if you like turnbase tactics this game is amazing. You can build your team with different units like stealth, snipers, tank, healer, etc.. it also has three robot units, one of the robot units can act as a mobile cover which is really cool.

This is the first time I've ever played a game on easy difficulty lol.. because I didn't want to loose any soldiers or lose my alliance with any country, but you're really not supposed to play like that. In this game units are mostly cannon fodder and countries will leave you, it's all part of the game.. I just beat the game few weeks ago, gonna go back and try a harder difficulty next time..
