Not really surprised at how this turned out, given what the majority of XM's stuff looks like (stylized body forms over realistic ones.)

In my case, this would look totally out of place in my collection, partly due to the aforementioned proportions, and partly due to the very busy action pose when my other pieces are pretty stationary. I do think this would look really nice in the collection of someone who had a lot of Marvel or other comic statues, as the aesthetic that was chosen would blend pretty nicely. Will be curious to see what changes if any are made. Not the end-all-be-all Fett statue it was heralded to be, at least in my book.
:goodpost: Agreed.

Excellent points all around, very true.

Personally I'm looking for that more animated like action pose fett. I'll be displaying him in my "Boba Shrine" with the new SS PF and Hot Toys 1:4 scale, a couple busts and other smaller statues that all hold this similar stance/look to them, except this guy. The flamethrower addition is a great idea and looks class, and being in mid air duel weilding is something from my old Halo 2 college days that gets me all fired up! I just love it. But I can certainly see how this rendition of fett doesn't sit well with a majority of collectors because of its cartoonish/animated style, which I think is being driven by way the plumes of smoke effect were done; giving us that Marvel comicbook look as opposed to something more traditional and realistic look SW fans were anticipating.

Seriously though, XM has to reduce the size of his belt cartridges around his waist, too big. Please!

If I had a Fett shine this would be a must own.... If I could only have one Fett I would choose a different one.

Hmm, overall, I too feel this is not *the* definitive Fett statue.
To digress: I find the original PF absolutely dull and forgettable, it lacks character and Boba is all about character.
The new PF, I like it, but a friend of mine received it and he was very disappointed with it - mix of things, the PVC head with the noticeable seam udnerneath, some cheap weathering effect and stickers, the braids are quite cheap too, dull base. I thought it was a good compromise for a 500$ piece but he kinda threw me off with his impressions.
The Mythos is still the best interpretation imho but it benefits from an artistic freedom that current SW pieces just can't ejoy anymore. I'm pretty sure that artistic liberties on the Mythos line were a bit frowned upon back then, in fact the statues didn't sell out quickly at all, they sold out after release.

This XM piece, I'd rank it #2 right behind the Mythos one. Reminds me of the Jedi Academy videogame, which is an absolutely awesome game. In one mission you meet Boba and have to go through various checkpoints while he relentlessy attacks you. Basically a single big boss fight and he's tough to push back.
I'm no Boba expert so I don't see the proportions issue - looking at pics I think the helmet could be a tad bigger and his belt a tad smaller.
The sculpt is terrific, you have all the small detailing like stitches and different materials, i.e. his suit, the cape, the belts, the pouches, the knee pads, they're all sculpted simulating different materials, which is something you just don't get on mixed media. Even the newer and improved mixed media is not as precise in replicating the various materials.
Main gripe for me is still the smoke effect. It's not inherently bad for a sculpted smoke effect, but I still think that the only way to give a good sense of smoke would be through clear resin, which would be nearly impossible on this statue due to the pose. At this point I would have preferred the statue with no smoke at all, maybe just painting his back repulsors like if they were lighting up in that moment - like if he's jumping back while activating the jetpack.

I think the smoke looks great on this...to a point. If they would have matched the right side of the statue to the left by just having a jet of it instead of oozing through the side and front of the base, it would have been better.

While I'm not wild about this one, I think it's nice that we now have a range of options, from the static movie-look of the original PF (let's face it, most of what Boba did in the films was stand around,) to the Mythos' unique look and variation on the standing pose, to the new PF somewhere between static and more dynamic/action pose, and finally this new XM one with undoubtedly the most action going on and a bit of a comic book aesthetic. While I'd like to see someone have another go at what the original PF is trying to do (with better helmet, better weathering etc.), I think most people should find at least one of these that they enjoy. So there's that.

You see! Even you think the smoke is like shaving cream. No one ever describes smoke as "oozing". :)

Its really a nice COMIC boba statue !!

Not for me as I like to have more movie like statues

Lose the dusty popcorn and you'd have a very nice Fett statue. I really pray to God they won't **** up the Stormtroopers somehow now.

I really do wonder what you have guessed its actually factual. That Disney has asked them to do the comic book styles and this was how they got the license. Im sure everyone found it strange how long it took for this to get moving, compared to how quickly their other pieces have moved along. It sounds a lot like Disney making them go back and forward changing it to meet certain criteria so it doesn't clash with SS. Just my speculation, but wouldn't surprise me if true.

They should really just find another way to create that smoke effect. It just looks way too much like shaving cream or, indeed, some kind of weird pop corn.
It's kinda ruining a very nice statue imo, too bad. I can definitely see people very intrigued by it, collectors and non-collectors alike, like "what's that?".

The not too pronounced comic book style can be cool on some characters like Darth Maul or (prequel) Yoda and provide collectors with something a bit different. I also hope they intend to go for nice dynamic poses for some statues in order to contrast a bit with Sideshow's current offering. What would be awesome is to see some characters never done in PF by Sideshow, such as Mace Windu, Darth Sidious, Episode III Obi-Wan, etc...
Well, I shouldn't be hoping for an XM statue that I like tbh, I know it's a pain to get an XM piece, and a lot of money :lol

Very good guess in my opinion. It is likely the reason for the delays. It will be interesting to see if the next offering is similar in style.

You guys should just leave some feedback on the XM facebook page if it concerns you so much, they could definitely use some productive advice there. And XM is known for listening to opinions of consumers (at least, based on what you guys are suggesting. I don't really have that sort of impression personally tbh) so it might just work out ya'know. Better than ranting about it here where nobody important enough to implement the changes are gonna read them. I for one definitely think the smoke effect could have been done better, and I also wished this boba were leaning backwards a bit more, like what I saw in the unpainted prototype.

Commented on both the pouches and the helmet size. They do monitor message boards as well, but FB is the loudest voice.
