When they make a character you REALLY want, it is definitely worth it. People always complain they are too expensive but when all of them are worth $300-400 more before they even ship, it's an easy decision. Can you say the same about current SSC pieces? Just sayin...
That's basically what I meant...I mean, they are pricey for how much you have to put aside for a single piece. It's a big investment all at once, it just has a greater chance of return, and you're at least guaranteed your money back. I mean, in a worst case scenario, you'll get exactly what you paid for it from someone. You'll never lose money -- at least for the time being.
I just meant that I'm not sure how often I'll go down the road in terms of characters I REALLY want. They're all so damn tempting, that I'd have to be certain that it was a concept and character that I wanted that much. Like, I'm sure they'll come out with a great Spider-Man, but I'm over the moon about the upcoming Spidey PF from Sideshow. I won't need another representation, which is great.
I wasn't a huge fan of the Daredevil pose by Sideshow, and lack of options elsewhere (older statues cost more than I'd like to invest) made it so that the XM Daredevil investment made sense. After a bit more contemplation, and discussion with a fellow Freak, I'm all but a deposit confirmation away from securing Mr. Murdock! I'm really excited about it too. He's a character I REALLY wanted, and I already had my SS Art Print custom framed and ready to display somewhere alongside him. The Elektra companion piece -- again -- is tempting, but we've yet to even see the painted piece, and I think it was a somewhat missed opportunity in terms of how they posed her.
I'm not sure who I'd go the XM route for next...their X-Men line was cancelled, so Cyclops is out. He'd definitely be one of my top choices, and I'm sure they'd have made an awesome concept for him (outside of the diorama they were working on.) Off the top of my head there are plenty of great characters, but I'm not sure who else I'm craving that much right now. That doesn't make seeing all their cool concepts any less tempting though!
Like I have a feeling their Venom is going to be insane! He'd definitely be tempting, but that's where I have to focus on the "REALLY want" part of collecting over the itch to own it all!
