Urgh watched the review video. The thing that bothers me is how many people in the comments LOVE it. Like how "perfect" it is.
And how "this is the best statue of an alien"
This is why film accuracy is so incredibly important. Because people will buy this and have no idea about how bad it is.
Agree it's bizarre most comments are praising it as a top notch alien statue.
Personally for myself, I can trade off a little bit of accuracy for a good amount of asthetics in return (like the cinemaquette pred), but not for ugly concepts with zero asthetics appeal and this one is a perfect example, one ugly mf.

The same people loving this are buying the fortnite alien today seriously they are.
The Alien deserves so much more respect.
Disney/Marvel are just turning it into kids stuff. Urgh so annoying.
Well so from what I heard prime1 had to rush some stuff with alienand predator to get them approved before the Disney team came in. That is why the predator skinned body is separated, Disney said no violence and no gore. They had a list of things that the statue studios are not allowed to do. We will see how it pans out, but the two main lines worth any money from fox are Alien and predator. And by the looks of the new Marvel Alien comic book it seems they are applying the marvel/Disney formula to Alien. It's kinda sad that is where it is heading. The operative word being "an" alien and not "the" alien. As long as it's got a long head and a tail, it works.
I don't think kids and young adults buying Fortnite skins would spend thousands of dollars on any Alien statue. This must be for more of the pure art crowd.
I'm not interested in this since it's not from the movies, but I wouldn't say that makes it bad. Just extremely niche and a potential waste of time for the studio. Sideshow's Mythos Alien is now warming up warehouse shelves because most folks don't want to spend $900 on something they don't recognize and this could very well end up the same. Well, maybe it'll sell a little better since XM's quality control is better and the piece is more impressive. And I suppose it's close enough to a generic Alien that a casual fan will accept it over the monkey-like Mythos design.
Then again, casual fans don't spend this kind of cash. Hard to say where this will go. Maybe it'll find its niche market in time like Hot Toys' Samurai Predator did.
I agree. Tell that to Ridley Scott.
They haven't done anything with the property yet. Not that I have high hopes. I've kind of accepted my place as a grumpy boomer when it comes to Alien and Predator. The originals are sacred and everything else is whipper-snapper nonsense.
Buuuut if we want good material in the future, the franchise needs to continue. Only way to do that is to raise awareness and the Fortnite skins could be part of that.
I guess wake me when something good comes along. I'll keep marathoning A1-3 in the meantime.
Great point. I forgot to convert. I still stand by what I said @ $1,700 though.Closer to 1700 usd. Still overpriced compared to what you get from P1.
