When the Antman movie hits the screen, he might not be the weakest =)

True but im sure if its a hit everyone else will jump on the bandwagon and then "I got an Ant man, you go an Ant man...Everyone's got an Ant Man"

I was suprised first of reading a lot of you guys think this is XM's weakest but then when I look at all of XM's statues a few a amazing and the rest are great so maybe it is XM's weakest :lol

but I still love it :) :rock

I'd be all over this one if I were more a fan of the character and had unlimited funds...as for weakest I guess its all about preference. XM is killing it so not sure there is any real weakest in the bunch they've done.

Haha, funny how that comes to be nowadays. No one knows or cares who Ant-Man is until he comes out in movie form (has to be a cool/hip movie though). Then everyone wants to know more, become know-it-alls from reading quick character info from a few websites, and then a hype train starts to form.

Aboard the bandwagon, he's now cool and awesome and people want only comic book renditions of him (even though they don't read comics), because people all of a sudden feel like they wanna be a part of his history. Plus people realize he looks better drawn than he does on film.

Look what happened to Batman once the Nolan movies hit. No one gave a damn about him or the Joker through comics until those movies came out. As a matter of fact, Superman was still more popular than Batman before those movies. Same with Iron Man.

I agree with you, this statue will be in absolute demand and hit "grail" status once, and only once the movie is released. Don't forget...it's gotta be a good/cool movie too. If it's lame, this statue will surly still be considered a weak one.

What is the last bad Marvel movie they put out? It will be a hit and their is enough Avenger fans to support this piece easy. How many of these reach the states I wonder.....

Um wut? How can a statue either be a grail or fail and dependent on how a film performs in the box office?

I don't know, sometimes I see it like that. I think The Thing PF should be more of a grail than it is right now, but I think the character in the movie killed that buzz. I think the entire movie killed that buzz. Had it been good and Thing looked similar to his comic renditions, the PF would be considered a King of a piece right now. The Thing is just an example. It's just weird when you think about how movies create hype trains for comic book renditions of characters, whereas comics themselves don't.

It can feel that way at times but I can't think of many situations where a movie made a statue a must have. Matter of fact i think a majority of Marvel statues that are considered grail are more focused on comic popularity than real world movies but ultimately the design is what its all about. Now in terms of demand in the short term I could see there being an impact on sales from a good movie but long term statue demand/popularity I wouldn't say so. If you think of some of the high dollar pulling statues now a days: Original Doom PF, Original Hulk PF, Original Cap PF those are commanding the money they do because they are simply epic statues and great comic book representations of the characters we love. I sure as hell know no one wants the original Doom PF because of Doom in the Fantastic Four movie.

Haha, that's true! Another statue I thought about was the Red Hulk. Every Red Hulk statue I've seen so far has been exceptional. The Comi, The new PF, Bowen and Kotobukiya's 1/6. But once or if he makes his movie debut, a good movie debut, I have no doubt the not-so-popular Red Hulk statues out now will skyrocket in demand.

That could very well be the case. Although the upcoming Red Hulk from SSC might just might be a hit without any movie back up...granted the fact that there are 3 statues almost identical could hurt it's demand as well. There is just SO much that goes into hitting the right combo to achieve grail status it's too hard to even figure out. That said I'll say one thing that will make folks do exactly what you said which is start to learn every damn thing about a character they know nothing about which I think is actually pretty damn cool, seeing/ordering a knock out home run statue! I'm WAY more of a Marvel fan than DC fan so my knowledge of a character like LOBO was small...but I'll tell you what as soon as I saw SSCs LOBO I'm one of his biggest damn fans now...I'm also a Martin Canale sculpt crack head so that didn't hurt either :dunno

So, buy Antman or Phoenix? :wink1: Choose one only please. I am leaning more on Phoenix, bc I already PO Wolv

Oh ho ho ...you are kidding around, aren't you? That's a bull**** question to test us....

Its very obvious ...and hands down the right choice ...it has to be .....Ant Man!!

HaHa! Phoenix you dingbat!

Antman no doubt. Its easier to acquire...will be much cheaper to get...and they aren't doing a variant. XM will definitely be doing a Red Phoenix...so if you miss this one....you probably will get the other. Ant-Man...real easy decision here for me.

I am getting this Phoenix though!!!:lol

Just preordered this on Simply Toys. Now for the wait! I'm a little scared of the tax/duty fees I'll have to pay when it arrives though! :S
