I'm willing to wager my entire collection that this sells out. There are customs that people buy more expensive then this. Wait till the in hand pics start surfacing. There will be more U.S. buyers then you think if this statue looks as good in hand as he does in the pictures. 500 ES for captain isn't much. Especially one that looks like this
Small Market = Low ES = Sells out fast (if the quality is high), for me price for the most part is irrelevant if the quality is high and the statue has a low ES... This is just my opinion and why I like to collect but I rather have a high quality rare piece then a mediocre quality mass produce statue that every collector and his brother owns. That said it's still only speculation based on photos to the quality of XM, once we get in hand production versions then will know for sure. But so far it does look promising.
your point on fast sellout is already invalid... there are still plenty available for PO and it's been out for a good 6 months(?)
Proves that the biggest market is still the US side
time will tell..I ordered mine..so whatever happens I am happy
I do the buying u can do the crying!! HA HA

Really, I thought it just came out not that long ago... still 500 world wide is not a lot... If you look at custom 1:4 scale they go for a lot more then $800, at least the high quality ones do... It's all speculation until they start selling on Ebay several months from now then will see what (North American) collectors are willing to spend on these... Of course I'm keeping mine
Agree. The issue here is really the aftermarket value. I feel even to break even is difficult because of the high cost to get it into the US... Is anyone willing to pay $750 usd for a second hand statue produced in Singapore? I'm not so sure... I only bought one custom statue so far and I regretted it so much... When I needed money and tried to sell it, people wouldn't even buy it for half the price..

WOW!! bad experience!! Do you mind if I ask which statue it was? and can u post a pic of it?
lucky for me xm studios wasn't part of your expeience ..cause this CA piece looks damn good quality and so does the company!
Lol ya it's a custom street fighter statue. Adon... Cost about $700 usd and can't even sell it for $300 now

Yikes. Sorry. I do think people might be able to turn this for profit, but it's not a risk my broke ass is taking. Haha
Also, not why I got in to this hobby.
Well people are paying $1200 for a second hand obi-wan mythos statue that was made in china, also there's Dr.Doom in his chair for like $2k, and Darth Talon goes for around $1200+... A lot of the going rate for aftermarket statues is based on the character and their pose.... You can have a really high quality custom statue but if it's of Jar Jar Binks odds are you won't get much for it even if you paid $2k to have it custom made.
The other thing is I don't think a lot of collectors even know about XM (especially North American collectors), so when these do hit Ebay later on it will be interesting to see the reaction...
Ya I'm not in this hobby to make money either... It's just that I would at least like to think it's a hobby that's self sustained financially.. Need to be careful with custom pieces or small name companies unless money is not an issue for you.
