I hate supply and demand. My brothers, we must rise up and take stand to this injustice!

Who's down for projected statues? All holograms. Scan an image and bam, projected in the spot you want.

Sure why not. Hahahaha

First, let me say that I am one of the lucky ones. I'll be getting my Mags on Wednesday. I see both sides of the price/value argument. I don't think this statue is worth 3k, but at the same time, I hope it's worth 10k because I'm getting one. I know it's not a statue, but I so wanted the Iminime Cowboy (Clint Eastwood) DX figure. I think it retailed for $500-$600. Needless to say, I missed it. MY FAULT. Wasn't on top of things. Saw an oline seller last week selling it for $4000. Not worth it, but if I REALLY wanted it that badly, I would buy it. Some people REALLY want something, but that doesn't make it worth it except to that person. I know that the common notion that the value of an item is whatever someone is willing to pay for it, but that's not quite true. It is the average of what all people are willing to pay. One sale at $10,000 doesn't set the norm if every other sale is at $1,000.

I complain when I can't get something at retail. I complain when flippers grab things up before me and price me out of the market. If I want it, I'll bite the bullet. What I prefer to do, is do my homework and stay on top of things. I've been collecting for 25 years. I've learned that you need to work. You can't be Johnny-come-lately. It's on me. It really hurts when you lose, so I try not to lose. I feel really bad for everyone who didn't get one of these, because I know how bad I would have felt if I had missed out.

Imho this whole situation proves how people like to win easy. A hell lot of people missed on this Magneto the same way a hell lot of people missed many PFs back in the days. Only difference is that those missing this time are those used not to miss and have all the "Grails" around in their collection. They missed, and now they complain, because they've been used having all companies producing what they wanted right around the corner.

To a degree, I understand the logic on both sides. I have the statue and absolutely LOVE IT! If it's worth at least as much as I paid for it, I'm happy. I don't mind making some $$$ on statues but I absolutely hate taking a big hit on them. That all said, as much as I love and wanted this statue, if I didn't get it (with a GREAT deal of help, might I add) for around retail, I honestly couldn't bring myself to buy it for what it's going for in the aftermarket. Ultimately, I would have missed out on it and moved on. However, I wouldn't nit pick the piece or complain about how high the aftermarket price is. There's no doubt in my mind though that this spectacular piece is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. I just can't see anyone thinking about money when they finally receive this piece and put it on display. It is a magnificent statue in every way and I can't believe anyone would be disappointed after finally securing one. This piece is just that special IMO.

It really is something. Usually I buy a statue, open it up, and it gets lost with the others I have on display. But with magneto I continue to come back to stare at it and a silly smirk appears on my face. And this is coming from someone who buys an average of 40 statues each year.

all i took away was 40 statues a year lol

I too have this piece and its a helluva grail…I have wolverine on PO as well..i had my eyes on Phoenix as well from day 1 but I missed out; the thing was sold out before painted pics popped up!..so now I've gotta scramble and hopefully try to get in, and probably pay another 1-2hundred on top of what i would've..cost of doing business…i sure as **** won't pay 3k tho lol

I think Phoenix is going to be the same as Mags on the aftermarket, it has all the same traits. Insane sculpt, limited and the only 1/4 scale Phoenix. I wouldn't be surprised if it surpasses Mags in terms of "grailness" yep new word lol

She'll be great in her own right, but she won't surpass. Of course, there might be a surprise that XM hasn't revealed with her yet.

I think Phoenix will be a bigger Grail.

Both are amazing, but the Phoenix has the extra edge since its much more of a bigger, brighter design

Can anyone tell me how long does it take for DHL to update their tracking system? Mine has been at the sort facility Wednesday Singapore time, Tuesday my time.

Got home from vacation and found Magneto waiting for me. Still won't have proper time to open him until Monday, but I see I got #59. Can't wait :)

I love seeing the pics but it is a little bittersweet since I wasn't able to get one when it went up for PO. Unfortunately this is going to be one of those instances in which I'm going to miss out on adding this piece to my collection. Not a huge big deal--It's happened before and it'll happen again. Being able to afford it isn't an issue. There's just no way I can justify the secondary market prices--especially considering XM hasn't completed shipping them all yet. I think I'd go as high as $1500 to get one--but double that? Regardless of the quality and scarcity I can't rationalize spending that much. So everyone that's getting him needs to keep posting pics so I can get my fix!

:exactly: :lol Do you live in a museum? How big is your crib that you can display 40 statues for every year you've collected? :horror

lol, no, just a basement with 3 large rooms. I rotate my display, that is the only way I can do it. But, my wife did let me put all of my batman b&w statues (I have almost all of them) in my son's room...so precedence has been set! I should also clarify that I purchase statues of varying scales (not all are 1/4).

and sorry for derailing this thread!
