100% normal. Customs fees and VATs are to be borne by the receiver (not sender) since they're based on your country % of taxation. It's possible that either Wolverine passed under the radar or that Phoenix was shipped with a higher declared value than Wolverine and hence stopped by the customs employees to apply fees and taxes.

Ah, gotcha. Yea it's not a huge deal and the taxes weren't anything outrageous but I just wanted to make sure Fedex wasn't overcharging me or something. Thanks for the info Mule!

Hey so it's been a couple weeks since I got Phoenix and I just received a customs, duties, and tax bill from fedex. I was under the impression that I had already covered all of this when the item shipped? I never got a bill like this for Wolverine. Does this sound right to you guys?

I have 8 XM Statues atm, and I received tax bill from Fedex on half of them... I have no idea why some get hit with it and some don't. Usually it's only around $20-$30 at most... I think Ant-Man was only like $16 and Magneto was around $30... But Wolverine, Hulk & Black Widow were $0

Same here. Never understood it fully but nothing about getting an XM statue is normal. I just pay em when I get em

Heh, as US residents you're not used to deal with customs and you're lucky :D when it comes to customs, "random" is the best adjective... and one of the most educated ones I'd say.

Welcome to the world of Euro-trash collectors. And if you feel bad about a fed-ex customs, duties, and tax bill on $25 - $50 with Phoenix then try getting one which says $250

I can't get over how some - not necessary you - americans ***** and whine about the price (and shipping cost) for collectables from outside the US. The only company who got a EU warehouse is Weta, everything else I got to order from outside EU (if I want the ex or there there is no eu seller - which is the case with XM) and then pay 25% tax, a fee for the taxation: $20 and maybe some extra duties depending on the item in question.

Hah, no doubt man. I know how fortunate we are in the US especially since we get SSC products shipped for so cheap. I have no issues paying this tax at all, I just wanted to make sure it was normal to get a bill this after the fact.

Always a good thing to double check the FedEx invoice. Shouldn't happen often in the US but sometimes they add statistical value and then charge an extra % fees on that statistical value, I once had to require to be refunded of around 80$ when they did because the invoice clearly had all details about the item and there was no premise to add the statistical value.

This sounds normal. It can depend on the declared value of the item as well. If it is suspiciously under declared, customs may flag it and do more digging. On my Wolverine, I had to pay the deliveryman at the door. But with my Phoenix, I didn't. If you look at your waybill, there should be a box ticked on "bill payment of taxes and duties to recipient". I'm still waiting on my bill. :(

On a lighter note, I finally received some posters for my X-Men display. As much as I'd love to splurge on prints or one off commissions, I blew my budget on Jean. :lol But I'm pretty happy with them!

Still waiting for mine as well, but I got the FedEX international tracking number today so she should be here in a week or so.

I know this will sound like blasphemy considering how awesome she is and how long I have wanted a 1/4th Phoenix, but I honestly am feeling "meh" about her coming in and might just leave her in the box for awhile. :dunno
