I have this one friend who always have to buy two of any low ES statue that he wants. The first one is for display while the second one stay unopened. He will gladly talk about his Sideshow when anyone shows interest in them in his house, but it always end up him taking people to the other room full of unopened Sideshow boxes. He doesn't even open the brown shipper itself and gets this "high" feeling of how much it must be worth! "DUDE! FAWKING UNOPENED XXXXXX EX EDITION!" Sometimes I wonder if he actually enjoys the unopened brown shipper than the sideshow statues he have on display in the other room...

I think you might get this "high" like him just to have an unopened XM Phoenix and wondering how much it will be worth in the future. His best "high" unopened brown shipper at the moment is the ARH Medusa Rattle. This dude just won't stop talking about how much it can sell on Ebay.

Way to risky not inspecting them for damage. I'd never buy any statue mib. That Medusa was very easy to break during shipping especially.

Not crazy at all. Have you considered converting one to Dark Phoenix ? It'd be sick !! Then you'd have one to be displayed with the heroes and one to go with the villains. That's what I would do if I had enough money to pick two Phoenix statues.

Since I like SS Jean Grey I will probably get her to go with the rest of the SS X-Men team while Phoenix will have a special spot apart from them as she might take a lot of space and well... she deserves all atention anyway.

Hopefully XM will use translucent resin for the bird which would look pretty awesome.

This is more accurate. I love the sculpt and the beauty of her. I want the flexibility of knowing I have a second that can possibly be customized down the road. It would be even better if I could get one unpainted

Honestly, I just don't see the appeal of repainting one of them. I would never want 2 almost identical statues in my collection. I'd just wait until XM made a Dark Phoenix statue. It would look unique and different and be cheaper than someone customizing this Phoenix statue.

If i can get this one i hope im lucky enought for it, with these pre-orders its insane i missed Magneto and wolverine LOL
I will make a custom display case for it and will only display it when its save inside it!
I just dont want any dmg on it in the future this is a eye catcher really.

Well hope it works out perfect for you, but is dark Phoenix not a bit more then just a repaint? different hair also

If it works for you, that's cool and all that matters. Like I said, I personally don't see 2 statues that are basically identical (except for paint) being one of a kind. For me, a one of a kind statue is different and unique in every way, not just a repaint. Again, this is just my point of view. Obviously, not everyone will share it. I'll let SSC handle variants. They seem to enjoy them. I'm glad XM doesn't indulge in variants. Anyway, I do hope you post pics when you get it done. I'm curious as to how she'll look.

Exactly, but I can't help but think what a shame it will be to alter such a beautiful and relatively rare piece. However, you are right. It's his money and he can do whatever he wants with it.

It's a nice to have. If you can't get one I wouldn't pass on the statue.

I agree. A nice to have, but I would not pass on her trying to find one with a coin.

As for the repaint, I am lucky in that I have a local guy who can do it. I didn't even think about the hair...hopefully he will be able to work that out as well.

Can anyone Pm me if they know of somebody who has any... I mean the proto hasnt even been painted yet. They just announced it yesterday that its getting the green light. There's gotta still be some options out there.

There will be options. Don't worry but stay on top of simply toys and email all the members again when the PO is officially announced. I think Simply Toys will end up being the best bet.

I dont think its gonna go up for pre-order until end of Nov. sometime... thats when the Thor PO goes up.

I hope XM gives us a solid po date soon. I'm trying to prioritize my purchases with all these things coming out from various companies. Thanos is next week and that's a must get. If Pheonix is going to be down the road for sure I'd go ahead and get the ARH Death Dealer.
