American collectors having the same problem experienced by collectors abroad in buying Sideshow pieces especially here in Asia. Now, we have the luxury of buying pieces without the hassle of paying high import taxes and shipping cost (or you can just fly to Singapore and pick the statues up) BUT from a topnotch company with superb pieces:wink1:

It's a little different than that. International collectors can still sign up at sideshow's website and buy merch directly from sideshow. They don't need to find a middle man (who usually charges a mark up) or have to pay outrageous shipping prices to get their merch delivered to them. I know shipping charges are high for International collectors of sideshow pieces but not as high as what middle men charge to ship XM merch. Not to mention that International collectors don't have to jump through hoops to try and secure an order through middle men. No one has that problem with sideshow. So, it's not exactly the same.

It's quite unfortunate that some middle men of XM statues do hold international buyers hostage by charging mark-ups and sometimes would even add profits in shipping costs. When I purchase from sideshow before, our local import charges and other fees would usually add up more than the price of the statue. Add that to the shipping costs and I usually spend double for a statue. XM was breath of fresh air for asian collectors like me who does not have huge extra funds for this hobby. I just focus on XM and buy an average of 4-6 statues a year.

On topic: I saw in person Weapon X and for me, it's the best statue exhibited by XM in the just concluded STGCC. If you are a Wolvie fan, having Weapon X is a must and this is the only Weapon X you will ever own. The only statue Xm should do in the future is an old man logan statue after the brown wolvie has been released. Weapon X, brown wolverine, yellow wolverine and old man Logan ----- this statues pretty much chronicle his life stages as a mutant.

Second best is Hulkbuster but displaying this piece would be a nightmare. Third would be Magneto. It was not painted but just looking at the details and sculpt you know that this piece would be epic. The metals he rolled into a ball floating on his palm includes guns etc. How cool is that? Fourth would be Optimus Prime.

Dark Phoenix is superb but the pose is almost like the Phoenix. But I'm quite sure after she is painted, she would be a jaw dropper. Storm was a stunner. The body sculpt, pose and portrait are most ideal. The only thing that Xm needs to do some twitching is the base. I have no idea what was that swirling used as a base. Whatever they are trying to project, it should be painted to contrast with Storm's white costume. A clear resin would be an option.

Awesome piece but way too much expensive, at least here in Europe. 1200€ plus shipping.

I completely understand where you are coming from. If I lived in XM's sales territory, I'd be cleaning up on XM pieces for my collection. However, I don't, so I have to pass on upcoming pieces because my finances don't allow me to pay middle man markups and inflated shipping costs. It kills me to see this Weapon X statue and know I'll never have it in my collection. At this point though, I just accept it for what it is. I'm sure I'm not the only person who can't have everything they want in life.

Here's my first video of Weapon X from STGCC. This is an initial impressions video, where I go over the details of the piece. I also have a second video of the unmasked head, and then I shot some extra 4K footage as well if you guys want to see that too.

Lets get this out of the way, the piece is freaking FANTASTIC! The base is incredibly detailed with the video screens, lights, wires, broken glass, water effect etc. And yet it actually doesn't take up that much space, and it doesn't look cluttered at all (to me anyway). I wasn't convinced about the helmet colour from the teaser picture, but it looked much better in person and it grew on me a lot over the weekend to where I actually really like it. The water effect on the body looks incredible so I sincerely hope they can pull it off for the production pieces. I hope you guys enjoy the video, and there's plenty more coming if you feel like subbing to my channel. Enjoy!

Thanks for the vid, Sisko!

Definitely helpful for the people that didn't go to STGCC this year.
