XM Studios - Weapon X 1/4 Statue

They better get it spot on. Otherwise it’s going to be a huge mess IMO. I’ve bought several XM pieces and haven’t been disappointed yet, but this wet effect is a tall order IMO. Heck they didn’t try it with the giant octopus statue, why take the risk with this potential grail piece??

Why have that mindset? Taking the risk is what makes a grail piece. I don't think they would show it off and proto it if they don't think it can be done.

I think it's already a grail piece without the wet effect. the proto looks great but that's a one-off, and if the wet effect is done exactly like the proto then I'm a happy camper. But its a risk that the factory can reproduce this 1000 times over.. I believe the XM guys posted in the other forum that they haven't yet figured out how to do this at the factory. so IMO if they can't be 100% certain they can pull it off on all the production pieces, then don't do it.

As I mentioned earlier, they didn't bother trying this with the giant octopus, which means it's a non-trivial effort. we shall see...

I hear what you are saying but I think pushing the envelope is better for the hobby regardless if it fails, I say that because if XM cant get it done I am confident they wont ship ****** work and they will be transparent about it, however, if they can get it done think about the bar that gets set. Think about the uniqueness of this piece. In all seriousness if it was any company other than XM I would feel as you do and not want them to even try. This is the level of appreciation and trust I have for XM.

They had two painted Weapon X in their office. One had the wet effect and one didn't. The one with the wet effect looked WAAAAAYYY better! They are aware of this, so they are trying to make it work if possible. They are most concerned with longevity and making sure the material used for the water effect will hold up over time. Hopefully they can sort it out because it looked amazing!

Definitely... the statues now and upcoming will just get better and better.

if he wants just 1 wolverine then he's got get the classic suit version. A weapon X version IMO is a nice add-on but can't be your only one LOL!!!

I agree with that. I also think the Weapon X might be too deep for a Besta.

It will be my first wolverine and I'd end up getting both eventually but I'd prefer to lock in the one which will be harder to get in the future.
Also I really like the unmasked SS head so it would have to be the ex.

Also can anyone explain why Weapon X's electrical head gear and equipment is wet? Did he wear all of that in the water tank? I don't know much about the story line but was just curious.

Yes, he wore it in the tank for the sake of this statue. However, most of the Weapon X stories don't have his helmet on his head while in the tank. Don't forget, this piece comes with a Logan portrait that is accurate but since he's obviously coming out of the tank, they can't make his helmet dry when the rest of him is wet.

It's completely accurate if you display it with the Logan portrait (the one without the helmet). If you go with the helmet portrait, you just have to let the water effect slide. I don't think it's an issue. It still looks awesome that way.

Surely there is some depiction of him wearing that stuff in the water though? I really like this piece and don't think I'd display it with the Logan head. I prefer the helmet look

I'd call it artistic license more than deception. You can't have the helmet be dry when the rest of him is wet. Just wouldn't look right. I also think the helmet portrait is the display option to go with on this piece. It completes the Weapon X look.

That's a good point, at the end of the day as long as they are including the elements which surround the Weapon X story line I guess it doesn't matter if he was wearing that equipment in the tank. I actually saw a cartoon where he had the helmet on in the tank and I prefer statues that have their own artistic twists.

the helmet help those who, like me, collect movie statues... Then the face is less of an issue. I am very excited about this one. I really like Wolverine and this one is extraordinary.
