Any particular reason you went direct with this? With the price difference, no exclusive, and sales tax, I would've thought this would be a prime candidate for you to get from a dealer. Or are you just getting suckered by all those reward points? :D

No kidding. I'll pay around $150 less than those in CA who order direct.

Cancellation and return policy. I wasn't sure I would be keeping this order and I didn't want to lose a retailer deposit (as well as stick them with an expensive last minute cancellation) when/if I cancelled. I try to only use a retailer on items I am 100% sure that I will keep. And shipping from Sideshow (three hours away) is a lot cheaper than shipping from across the country. And if I am not completely happy with this expensive piece (or if it arrives broken), I can return it with no worries for a refund or exchange. Returning it to a retailer would be a hassle to us both and I would pay that much more in return shipping, and be out that much more from the higher non-refundable original shipping charge. Plus, I get it faster/sooner and I get reward points.

I can't wait for this. It'll be my first 1:1 bust of any kind. I had Maul and Greedo pre ordered, but ended up cancelling both. When I saw the pics of this once from last years Comic Con, though, I knew I'd have to have it.

I know they said there woudn't be any humans in this line, but I hope they will do a ROTJ Emperor. With his deformed face he could pass for a non-human, right? :emperor

One can dream and hope :)

If the facepaint on Maul could pass as "non-human", I'd say the emperor would. I don't recall an official announcement that there would be no Luke, Han, Leia, etc., but I definitely do agree you're on safer ground with this format if the most prominent recognizable features are not so subtle.

I don't know that there's any other piece I would go for besides Yoda in this format, but he's a perfect fit for the 1:1 treatment IMO. I think its the combination of a key, likeable, iconic character with a really distinctive instantly recognizable and unique appearance. I'm really starting to get excited.

Man, I hope this comes in time for Easter. I wanna show it off to people. :D

I'd also love to see Sideshow to take a stab at creating a 1:1 bust for C-3PO (even though I doubt it due to the lifesize versions being created)...

I am having such a mental struggle with myself. I am at a crossroad in my life, and where my life goes from here is in the hands of someone else right now and decisions they may or may not make. If they make the choice I'm hoping they will, it'll mean me needing all the money I can get and cancelling Yoda would support that, but on the other hand, if they make the decision I don't want them to, it means I'll be ok with cash and Yoda is no big thing, but the struggle comes in that Yoda will likely ship before any decisions are made, so it's like do I assume things will work out and cancel him for the money, or do I hold onto the order and get him, it's just such a great piece I would beat myself up for passing on it if I find out after the fact that I could order him no sweat, what do to what to do...

Maybe a legendary scale bust of 3PO?

Maulfan, I'll throw in two other things for you to factor into your decision, hopefully one of them will make the decision easier. 1. You can go ahead and cancel and if things don't work out like you hope you might be able to get one from a dealer, through the waitlist, or a second chance offer via sideshow. 2. Keep it on order, when you get it, hold on to it and if things turn out the way you hope send it back to sideshow for a refund (providing the 30 days isn't up yet...). I hope those two things help you in some way instead of just giving you more to fret over. Good luck with whatever decision it is you are waiting for. :)

That is a tough one....

Honestly MaulFan what I would do is keep the order in place. Do not cancel Yoda. Let the order ship and keep Yoda - if and when you do find out that y9ou cannot keep him, as long as it is within the 30 day return policy through Sideshow you can just return him and all you would have to do is eat the shipping cost to send him back. Or worse case scenario.....you end up keeping him past the 30 days......find out later that you cant keep him and you need the money and then you sell him on Ebay or on the FreakBoards for the amount that you paid for him....this way you get the money you need back. Im sure he wont be hard to sell....even if he is not brand new. Either way though I hope things work out how you want them too.....even if it means giving up Yoda.

It is still a tough decision though.....I can feel your pain......I am actually trying to decide on whether or not I should cancel my Boba PF and wait for him later from somewhere else (hopfully cheaper) or just keep him on order and see if he was worth the money.......if I dont like him I will most definetly send him back. I also have Yoda on preorder right now too so that is playing a role in keeping or not keeping Boba - its alot of money to drop all in one months time - plus I have a ton of other stuff on preorder too. I am definetly not going to canel Yoda.....that I know for sure! Maybe you can help me out with your thoughts and opinion.

The guys have said it better than I could, MaulFan.

However things pan out, I wish it all works out the very best way for you, bro. :duff

Much appreciated, everyone. I think I'm going to keep the order and see where things go, the biggest factor is that I don't see many hitting eBay and seconday market, or anything short of well over SSC cost, Maul seems to be hard to come by and I think Yoda will be equally or more popular, and like I said, it just looks so fantastic I dare not risk missing out on the joy of having that beauty in my collection, thanks again for the encouragement everyone. Here's to impatiently waiting for March 26 :)

MaulFan, on the other hand, it hasn't sold out yet. There are fifty left. You can always keep an eye on the low quantity alert bar and order just before it sells out.

Good luck MaulFan. Sounds like you're dealing with issues more important than polystone. :peace

If anything would make me consider a second entry, this might be it. The 3PO and R2 full Life scale would be outrageous, but I really don't think I can swing it.

I'll point out though that Sideshow has done several different variations on scale for another favorite robot - the T-800 Terminator. There have been full endoskeleton replicas in 1:4, 1:2, and 1:1, plus 1:1 Plasma rifle & shotgun, plus 1:1 and 1:2 scale arm segments, plus a battle-damaged and pristine 1:1 scale endo-skull. It gives collectors with varied space and budget issues, and preferences for scale a lot of great options. So - I wouldn't rule out a 3PO bust just yet.

For the most part, I would like to see the 1:1 phase out with Star Wars and Legendary scale busts come in, they're a great scale, they've done great work with the ones so far, and I think the reasons why certain busts can't be done at 1:1 scale would be mute points in the 1:2 scale, and perhaps my dream for a kickass SSC Ep3 Obi-Wan bust could come true. As for the 1:1, other than helmeted characters, which unless Corgi taking over MR changes stipulations about that being done by SSC, I can only think of deformed Palpatine and Grievous as 1:1 busts I'd want for non-humans.

I would love to see 1:1 scale busts for:

Ackbar
Emperor (Black Hood)/Palpatine (Red Hood - deformed) (Either)
Chewbacca
Wicket
Taun-Taun
Kit Fisto (Can you imagine? Oh, man!!)
Tuken Raider
Bossk
Dengar
IG-88
Zuckess
4-LOM

...and I really would like to see some human characters like Obi-Wan Ep.3 and Leia in any incarnation!

Now listed as coming in 30 days, AND the product pics are up!

Can't wait, it looks excellent. :D
