Why, you little...!

Are you getting the Steelbox version?? I was thinking about importing it here, but it was going to cost $40 after shipping.

Steelbook for Saving Private Ryan? I didnt know about that. Where can i get it?

The Tombstone Blu came out pretty well.

The long shots do shot some age, but the closer ones, especially the close-ups show so much detail and pop.

Textures are really great as well.

Worth the upgrade for sure.

Saving private ryan is nice but not excellent as the boys of Blu-ray.com say, they qualified 5/5 in video mmmm........This one is not the first time that they mistake in a review, or they recieve money of the companies or see the movies in vhs ....5/5 is Avatar for example ...

I just preordered The Karate Kid on BD

Amazons got it up for $9.99 right now!

thats a deal I could not pass up!

Why? Because of the grain?

Exactly , the image is not clear , only in some scenes , To qualify 5/5 on video the image has to be perfect, this is my humble opinion .

That's the way it was shot, man. It's the same with Minority Report and a couple other Spielberg movies. They all look like that. 300 looks like that also. It's part of the movie. Most people like grain, some don't like it.

You right Iron , the same thing with Minority , but anyway , for some this effect is good , For my it is not a 5/5 on video.

No offense, but how would you rate films/shows that are intentionally shot with grain??? For instance, BSG has lots of grain....the way the directors wanted it. Spielberg has been notorious for doing this with movies--SPR especially.

No problem man , i rate for my personal taste , becouse for me the grain don't looks great in all film , some scenes maybe .

I think the grain makes it better. I've always like it though , 300 is another one I loved that effect with , it makes it look aged which is perfect for those two. Sort of adds to the effect somehow for me.

Yeah films like SPR & 300 wouldn't have the same impact if they were all clean so in films like that you gotta have grain! but my brother is the same as fantasymaker he's not keen on grain.

Looks really darn good to me:

Can't wait for it to arrive tomorrow.

The difference is quite apparent. Cannot wait to settle in with this bad boy this weekend.

I caved too. Could not pass it up for that ! :panic:

Exactly. To many filmmakers it is necessary for the mood and character of their piece that grain be apparent. Grain is a part of cinema. And true cinema is an art.

If you cannot accept movies such as this, then you should really not watch many movies not made via green screen (and then maybe even then some) as digital is the only way for many of these nuances to be completely absent.

Some transfers have attempted to remove ALL grain and DNR the image to the detriment of the image. This is an epic fail.

However, if you maintain this opinion, you will cheat yourself of many a great transfer and experience in modern cinema.

To me the upgrade is amazing...
