Watching Saving Private Ryan on blu ray. Picture is superb. This is such a powerful and intense film. That opening scene and when they tell the mother about the Ryan boys is heart wrenching. Spielberg don't make em like this anymore.

I saw this in the theater and I could never watch it again. I don't own it.

I saw bits of it on TV and I'd hears good things about the blu ray. How it didn't win best picture I don't know. It's certainly not an easy watch but there are war movies alot more hard hitting than this one IMO. Schindlers list for example. SPR does actually have some very subtle humour which lessens the blow a little bit.

this is easily one of my favorite movies. I haven't had a chance to watch the entire Blu all the way yet, but I did watch the beach invasion.
