No because they're different region codes. Unless the specific American Blu Ray is region free of course, then you're right as rain.

I stopped counting when I started upgrading my DVD collection to Blu Rays and HD DVDs.

Picked up a mint, never-watched Videodrome DVD (US Criterion version) from a boot sale here in the UK today. £3.00 (equivalent of $5.00 US). Absolute bargain. Vintage Cronenberg "body horror" at its finest.

(And, yes, before anyone asks, my DVD player plays North American discs just fine. )
