Re: Your 2011 October/Halloween Movie List

The wife got me these for my B-Day, she's such a good wife! :lecture

Actually the whole boxset and some Myer's and Jason's!!!

I know that Res Evil 5 is coming out next year. And it will be hard not to buy these on blu-ray now. But I'm going to wait for the 5th one and see if a nice box set arises from it. If so, I'll bite. Unless there are seriously great deals over black friday. I really, really love these movies.

Actually, the 1-3 box set for BR is pretty cheap right now. Amazon has them for less than $10 a piece at [ame="https://www.amazon.com/Resident-Evil-High-Definition-Apocalypse-Extinction/dp/B000YPUFAQ/ref=sr_1_1]$27.99 for the set[/ame].

Re: Your 2011 October/Halloween Movie List

Finally received Maniac on Blu Ray today. I love how it looks and the added features was a very nice bonus. Tom Savini is the man!! I think The Prowler and Maniac is his best work ever.

Had to share this scene to show why I feel CGI is has no place in Horror/Slashers...

That is sick. I have never seen Maniac. Now I will have to check it out.

Do it, you will not regret it. Not your average horror IMHO. Has a more real feel (at least to me) because this is a "average" looking guy just whacking people around NY.

Re: Your 2011 October/Halloween Movie List

A list of twenty I will watch this month:
The Haunting (1963)
Near Dark
City Of The Dead, aka: Horror Hotel
The Black Cat (1934)
Abbott And Costello Meet Frankenstein
Re-Animator
Return Of The Living Dead (Best Zombie Movie Parody Ever)
Bride Of Frankenstein
Dead Of Night
The Devils Backbone
Curse Of The Demon
The Body Snatcher (1945)
Pans Labyrinth
The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow (1958, Walt Disney)
Arsenic And Old Lace
The Wolfman
The Abominable Dr Phibes
The Evil Dead
The Frighteners
Dracula, Prince Of Darkness
Psycho
And I will likely watch several score more as strike my fancy. Among other things I do to make ends meet I manage an independent video store (yes, there really are still video stores) and I like to play some classics around Halloween. I also love Turner Classics this time of year. Universal horror and Hammer Films you rarely get to see any other time unless you happen to own them yourself not to mention the Val Lewton pictures. Good time of year for TV.

Re: Your 2011 October/Halloween Movie List

I haven't had much free time lately, so all I've watched horror wise is Sleepy Hollow for the first time in a good many years.

I do plan on getting my Hammer Horror on pretty heavily though, and having a bit of a Hammer and Amicus classic horror marathon.

I've already rewatched all the Cushing Frankenstein films, and all the Hammer Dracula series, as well as Curse of the Werewolf, Phantom of the Opera, Kiss of the Vampire, Night Creatures/Captain Clegg, and Paranoiac, over the past couple months, but I still have plenty more Hammer I want to get through.

I hope to make a good dent in that this month with the likes of: The Abominable Snowman, Hands of the Ripper, The Devil Rides Out, The Gorgon, The Reptile, Two Faces of Dr Jekyll, Vampire Circus, Countess Dracula, Plague of the Zombies, The Vampire Lovers, Lust for a Vampire, Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter, Twins of Evil, Dr Jekyll & Sister Hyde, and Hammer's Mummy series to get through. As well as the Quatermass films.

I also have a nice batch of Amicus to get through, and just like with Hammer, many featuring Christopher Lee and/or Peter Cushing. The Amicus films I have lined up include: The Skull, The Beast Must Die, I Monster, Madhouse, And Now The Screaming Starts, The House That Dripped Blood, Torture Garden, Asylum, Dr Terror's House of Horrors, From Beyond the Grave, and Tales That Witness Madness.

I think that should keep me going for a while, but if it doesn't I have other brit/euro horrors like The Creeping Flesh, The Flesh and the Fiends, Blood on Satan's Claw, and Horror Express to be going on with.

But if I crave something different I might go really old school and throw on Murnau's Faust and Nosferatu.

Re: Your 2011 October/Halloween Movie List

I would like to go ahead and say Insidious scared me. Nothing scares me. Not TCM not the Collector (which is beyond fabulous by the way) none of them. I am okay watching alone, at night, in the pitch black. Insidious, not so much. I make it a must watch.

This is good then!!! :clap

TCM, Jason, Myers, Collector, Freddie all that stuff I get into because of the actual killer but is it scary.... PSH... not even in the slightest, I'd KILL them all! :lecture :lol

Well maybe not Freddie, I NEED to sleep sometimes.

Re: Your 2011 October/Halloween Movie List

Picked this up Yesterday. Never picked up it's original individual released couple years back in hope for Blu Ray version. But it will have to do now. For $39.99, not a bad deal either...
