Okay, I admit it - I was wrong. You should really write down the date and time on that, because it never happens. Me being wrong? Oh, hell no, that happens all the time. Me admitting it, that's a whole different story.

But when I first picked up the 12" Jack Sparrow figure from Zizzle, I thought it was going to be a festival of suckitude. But then I opened it up, got to messin' around with it, and realized not only is it not a festival of suckitude, it's not even a small buffet of bad. In fact, it was surprisingly decent. Nothing to jump up and down about, or party in the streets, but it's definitely a better figure than I had anticipated from outside the plastic. The big drawback is the pants and boots, which really do look quite silly, but once you get your head past that, you'll see the other highlights.

You can find all the reviews at the usual:

Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend!

A great review as always... and I suspected the 12" figures might turn out alright. Although Jack does appear to have a bit of Prince quality to his expression it still seems like a solid figure for 20 bones.

I'll be picking him up for customizing. I think the likeness on him is better than Medicom's. Now if Medicom would just sell the boots or the outfit, they'd make a fourtune.

I have seen these and picked up and put down Jack about a dozen times. I am not a good enough customizer to make any of this work, but it is pretty good on its own. I think I'll get these for my nephews for when the film comes out, but no sight of Davy Jones around here!

anybody seen Davy Jones yet? Or am I wasting my time looking right now...???:monkey1

Really like the figure..I'M buying IT !!! I DIDNT SEE IT YET HERE IN CANADA BUT I'LL KEEP AN EYE ON IT....AND I MIGHT BUY THE MEDICOM ONE ALSO...TO CUSTOMIZE AND MAKE THE PERFECT JACK SPARROW.

i'm wondering if u could use CY GIRL type boots on him. i know a seamstress who makes GREAT pirate boots outta leather and PVC for the CYs but they're built on those bootfeet ao u'd have to cut of Jacks feet hehe. maybe modify some of those leather DID german boots.

Nope, you wouldn't cut off Jack's feet - he'd need whole new legs. The boots ARE his legs, right up to the knee joint.

Yeah I picked up the figure at a Toys R Us 30 miles south of Chicago about a week ago. I gotta say though that Michaels review is being kind. These figures feature all kinda of sucketude, is about it. I'm stealing the vest and jacket for my custom Sparrow using the hero heads version on a dragon figures body. Otherwise he'd definately still be sitting on the store shelf.

You guys are getting way too spoiled by $60 figures - you're really losing perspective. Find me another $20 figure that has a jacket, vest, shirt, belts and even head sculpt that good, and I'll change my mind. You won't do it.

The pants and boots are bad - but this isn't a $60 collector figure. This is a mass market, very reasonably priced toy, and if you try grading it as a high end collectible, it will come up short. Of course, if I were grading Medicom or Sideshow figures as cheap toys, they'd get pretty poor scores as well, since they are neither cheap or toys.

So you actually opened them up? Like I did? If you notice, I thought they'd suck too - until I actually had one out of the package.

Did I say I opened them up?

God no! Why pay good money for something that looks this awful in the package?

These actualy made the 12" Jakks Pacific Van Helsing figure look good.

I haven't seen them in person, but just judging by the pictures I think he looks really good, especially for a $20 mass market toy. The likeness is surprisingly close.

i agree w/ MC. i have both Jack and Will now and the heads and clothes alone are worth the $20 that each cost. nowhere else can u get this amount of usable stuff for $20. the coats, shirts and vests are nice! the heads are pretty good. even the belts and pirate hat are usable (not great tho). pants too if ur making shorts, or a castaway, ect (okay these pretty much suck). the boots suck but u could cover them or Dremel them off. the hands are huge, but nicely detailed. maybe use the body for a monster. picked them up at TRU while i was there for other stuff so no wasted gas or shipping fees. if anyone knows where else i could find this amount of usable stuff for 20 smackers, w/o any "hidden" fees like shipping. PLEASE let me know.:monkey5

Hey Mookey -- what color is the jacket? I know I asked you this, but in MC review it looks dark brown. As you know, I need a better coat for my custom Jack. I think that one might just work.

Also, while perusing OSW, I saw you're getting free rubber sleeves. Very cool! I'm looking for some rubber arm sleeves too but I'm curious how they look. Let me know when you get them will ya?

Wor, Jack's coat looks almost jet black to me, but i'm a lil color blind sometimes heh. i haven't tried it on Shawn's custom, but i'm a bit afraid it might be too big, as the Zizzle body is about an inch taller and broader of chest than the one Shawn used (i think it's a Dragon but if it is, it's a short bod because it's a tad shorter than a CY Girl). u might could use hot water to shrink it tho. and yeah, finding those arm sleeves was pretty hard. apperantly Urban Samurai had them but they're out. i bought a custom Mike Douglas from the movie Falling Down that i want'em for. i'll get pics for ya when i get them all.
