I've also never fully understood the collaborative nature of the project as you know. I think it was mainly a result of Rainman not wanting to compete with Erick's sculpt, as he is a friend. That being said, I don't think this project has suffered as a result of being rushed at all. I think Erick got to take all the time he needed on the sculpt, and likewise Rainman on the outfit. Rainman's outfits typically have a few inaccuracies that need correcting, and I think Marty's has more than usual because the outfit is so complex.

I think it has something to do with artistic synergy like you said though, Ray, a prime example is how awesome Scott Petersen's sculpts look with his paint. Erick's sculpt with a neck unpainted looks ace, but with the neck gone and with Rainman's paint apps, the likeness is lost a bit.

I wish Rainman sculpted his own head for this and Eric sold his on his own. Rainman would have an easier time pulling the likeness from his own sculpt maybe?

i agree with a lot of what you said, particularly the badgering thing. not sure i agree with the above though. i do see your point, but i think a great artist should be able to paint up almost any sculpt to look phenomenal, whoever did it, especially when the sculpt itself unpainted has such a superb likeness. i have to say seb is my favourite 1/6 artist on here, one reason being he can take even the crappiest sculpt and make it look amazing with the way he paints them. really brings out the character.

not saying rainman is not a great artist. i think he's exceptional. just think maybe he needs to take another shot at this one. i'm having trouble seeing much likeness to MJF or marty. i know if he takes the constructive criticisms into account, it could be amazing. and a great advert for both erick and rainman.

I agree with Ray where I never understood the rush job needed. But in any case I'm just treating this as, I'm buying the outfit from Rainman and I'm buying a sculpt from Erick. So Rainman's paintjob is irrelevant for me. And yes, I do believe something is off about it, but it's not the sculpt.

Just curious, what about the project do you guys feel was rushed? Rainman's accessories turned out great, as did the outfit (aside from a few color palate issues that will most likely be corrected). And as far as I know, Erick took all the time he felt was necessary on the sculpt. :dunno

I thought it all turned out really well and and it doesn't seem like a rush job.I also didn't notice anyone pressuring them to rush unless I was just missing something, I actually thought more people were encouraging them to take their time.

Pics of the full outfit and final sculpt had been posted already...so yeah we were all a little anxious to order :dunno Still don't get it.

I totally got nothing but positive enthusiasm from u and the odd other guy Dane, not to worry! I can't say the same though for others in the page range eithsamurai mentioned.

I agree with Marf, no one was pushed or rushed during that period. I felt the discussions were borderline disrespectful and the call for a new head sculpt at that stage, mostly due to shipping delays, was a bit off. But both the head sculpt and clothing were complete at this point. All we wanted to see was the gear up for sale - which was delayed due to the postage delay.

This project wasn't rushed and will be great.

I really think this was a great project and I LOVE that two different artist were able to combine their talents on this. The board needs more of this, I would be more than happy to work with other artists amongst this board if it ever presented themselves, Seb *hint hint*.

I really don't get the whole Rainman or nothing or this should be ALL Rainman argument, that's just silly to me, everyone should respect the two great artist at hand and be super happy that this was even thought out.

I am SUPER stoke!

20 years.... WOW yea, I can wait just a lil bit longer. :D Just a lil bit though. :)

Ski :duff

I for one am super-stoked to finally be getting a Rainman original, I haven problem waiting a month or more for the outfit to be perfected even further. This is a Grail piece for me. :rock

Oh, and not that anyone's counting, but it's been 26 years (going on 27) since the original BTTF! :wink1:

I was wondering why someone said 20, I remember watching this in the theater with a cousin of mine when I was 8. :lol
