Awesome paint-up, Rainman! :rock I'd love to see one with the eyes to the side as well.

Are you able to confirm which of the outfit changes we suggested are going to be fixed?

perhaps the lack of neck is throwing off the likeness a bit for me too, which i know for a fact is there looking at erick's original unpainted sculpt.

rainman, any chance you could please offer the option of a head with neck for the full sets?

Looks excellent to me but I see what everyone is saying, it's the hair on the straight on shot with the neck not matching on the ears, almost every humans neck goes into the crease of their ears. Here with the neck being slightly skinnier on the match up following all the way to the headsculpt plays to the illusion of bigger hair, throwing it off in the slightest but IMO that is what everyone is seeing.

Excellent job on this, it really is awesome, regardless!

For me the paint job, while excellent, sports the wrong tones. The hair is bit on the black side (in these photos, anyway)... and Marty's skin tone, (probably painted to match the light tones of the body?) is on the blanched side...

I think the perfect paint apps would be the ones used on Mad Dog.

Beautiful paint job.

But...

i have to agree about the neck - i think it would look much better with a neck. i also think the eyes might be a little bit too bright and big. would love to see a version with the eyes painted to the side too - might match the expression better? :dunno

agreed on both counts. With neck would be nice. And with the extreme expression a more expressive eye position would work better IMO. :peace

the pupils look too big... honestly the likeness looks weird after the paintup

With the right eye position I still think it will be great.

Me too, I'd love a side view look for the eyes, that is actually how I sculpted the eyeballs lol....dang I love this!

Well, I'll be. It really does help a little with the likeness, doesn't it?

As a marty Mcfly figure its easily the best of all time amd a real knockout!. But not sure how i feel about the paint and sculpt end result in terms of bringing the likeness out.

It's just not quite jelling the way it should. Technically it looks astounding as a sculpt and paint job but I'm having trouble seeing who it is, my honest opinion. I wish Rainman sculpted his own head for this and Eric sold his on his own. Rainman would have an easier time pulling the likeness from his own sculpt maybe? It's like the meshing of two different artistic brains and it's throwing the whole thing off. Don't get me wrong both sculpt and paint are still brilliant.

I Was never really sold on this collaboration from the beginning. Never really understood why it was a collaboration at all. even though Eric and Rainman are both among my absolute top favorite artists around here by a mile.

Mostly though, I never understood why everyone was so in sudden desperate need for a Marty Mcfly that you had to have it immediately in the middle of Rainmans Wonka offering and couldn't simply wait until Rainman had the time and resources to do it on his own and get Eric to do his take on Marty, Trevor as well then we all could have a bunch of great offerings and takes on the character without the artists having the pressure of communicating and working together dealing with mailing back and fourth deadlines etc. I mean the movie is over two decades old... Why does everyone have to have this right now?

I felt bad for Eric and Rainman with the constant "what's the hold up?" posts. I mean really what's the rush?

If anything though I think it's pretty cool to see Rainman paint others sculpts, even if it's not what I had hoped on this particular result. Rainman in my opinion is the most amazing painter in 1/6 I've ever seen and Eric one of the best sculptors I've seen. I'd kill to see him paint other artists great sculpts like Adam Christian Bale, Trevor's walt, WGPs Indy, batman stuff etc. cool stuff!

Wow, lots of negativity there. This collaboration was made because people wanted a solid Marty figure and I don't think Rainman had the passion for the character to do a release on his own. This is great. Marty is one of the most unique looking figures anyone would own IMO and I'm glad to see this happening. People are excited and it comes across as impatience.

Rainman does what he does for us peeps and his puts so much into what he does. Like I said, I don't believe he has the passion for the character so that may translate to his painting on this particular one.

Correct me if I'm wrong on any of my facts.

I agree and I do like the increased collaboration between artists here, whether it's Kato and Xeno, Rainman and Velvet, Erik and Rainman, etc.

.

If that's the case then I totally understand ! Also not meaning to be overly negative I'm more negative about the badgering of these artists about deadlines I hate seeing that I find it so annoying...
