Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Very good points Talibane. You're right, unfortunately I don't think Jaws has quite the wider appeal that Ghostbusters has. Close, but not quite at the same level.
But Rydeck's news does give me a lot of hope that a big company will do Jaws justice some day.
I do really hope we see Blade Runner figures. If Blitzway nailed a 1/6 Deckard...![]()

I just haven't seen any "Jaws" customs that got me excited enough to bite, but seeing the "2001" figs makes me think they'll get done by a smaller company though hopefully with better apps and sculpt detail than the "2001" figs, which only worked because of the spacesuits.
There's been a few very nice custom 1/6 Deckards, but yeah - BW would nail it (and be way more affordable than a great custom,) and Pris would be an incredible 1/6 figure too.
Didn't even occur to me that you were talking about the boat.
That'd be massive in 1/6 scale.
Trevor Grove's sculpts are pretty incredible, but they were labours of love for him and I think only three casts of each were ever made.
Agreed, Scott Petersen has done a very nice job on his Blade Runner sets. I don't think he's quite nailed Ford's sculpt yet, but his Batty, Pris, Rachel, Gaff, Kaiser and Bear and hopefully soon his Sebastian are all excellent.
And yes, the lower price would be a huge plus.![]()
Wow, hadn't seen those Grove ones. Sounds like they were like his ShortRound - not for general release. Were there any pics of the "Jaws" heads painted?
I'm kinda glad he didn't release those because I would have had to grab all of those "Jaws" guys plus the Ozark white shark "Jaws head" to go alongside my "Deep Blue Sea" attack set-up. Sharks rule.![]()
And thanks for the Scott Peterson mention - amazing I had never heard of him and wow, amazing stuff. Love his Austin Powers too, but his Deckard is really good - at least unpainted (I saw one pic with just-okay paint and it looks decent.) How much was that whole set? His Rachel and Pris looks great too.
I have one of their 1/6 scale sharks - really amazing piece.
Jaws would be cool, but I worry it just doesn't have the depth of buyers that GB and BTTF has. The other issue is it's a bit like GB in that there's no real "lead" character (and at least Murray is still a kinda-star today, none of the Jaws guys are,) more evenly split between the three guys, and it would also be tough for BW to do the nemesis of the movie because it'd be huge.
With Blade Runner II coming next year, I think Blade Runner would be a more obvious bet for BW's new license because HF just had his "sci-fi" swan song with TFA and you could also do one or two other cool BR figures like Daryl Hannah and Rutger Hauer's characters, plus even do the spinner car because we've got a major trend going for eighties iconic sci-fi/fantasy cars being done in 1/6.
GB got this treatment because of the de-bootlol) so BR will too with its sequel.
BW doing Deckard, the Spinner and Pris would be very cool.

I was going to post something similar. Various companies have tried doing Blade Runner in the past, but the most we've seen officially, that I know of, is a spinner car that was available in a Blu Ray set in Japan, a 1:1 scale prop replica of the gun (and I'm not 100% sure that was ever licensed), and an Ertl car set released in the '80s. No figures that I'm aware of, though bootlegs have been available for a long time.Blade Runner would be incredible. But is the most complicated license. I'd be surprised if WB manage to untangle all that ******** for the anniversary next year.
Wow, just opened this thread to read the commentary on the Jaws figures. That would be insane and instant purchases for me. Quint, Brody, and Hooper all on one shelf. Glorious.
Got a feeling I'm going to be disappointed and it'll just be some 'what might they make next?' type musing.
