If you have the movie license/rights for a character it's not "illegal" to make an interpretation of it without having likeness rights.
This is very much untrue. There are many instances of actors likeness rights holding up a product or being outright denied, e.g. Jack Nicholson, Andrew Garfield, etc.

yes, if the company, you know, uses their likeness, or if the actor has special merchandise rights associated with the character, which goes beyond mere likeness. different discussion.

If you have the movie license/rights for a character it's not "illegal" to make an interpretation of it without having likeness rights. Again, there's a precedent with the shadow warrior two-pack. Where and when did the son say his father signed on? All I see is YouTubers and the like vaguely referencing each other when it costs less breath to link me to the article or video (with time stamp) where he said that. Why should anyone refuse to give NECA credit when they're fans of the line? What do you mean by crying? Most people seem to agree with you anyway, which is totally fine. I am glad that neca chose this route to put out a Tatsu. All I need now is a custom head sculpt so I'm actually quite happy.
Do you have the figure in hand to call it an "interpretation" likeness? The pictures of it looked pretty darn good, not perfect, but good. Even Judith Hoag's likeness isn't spot on, but she is also signed too. You seem to be grasping at straws here.

So neca is releasing the mirage turtles again but this time separately in individual boxes. Interesting

Yeah. Back when the 4pk was released through the Target haulathon, Neca said they weren't exclusive and would eventually be re-released. They were also available directly from the Neca store a while back too.

The problem to me is not only are they a few bucks cheaper by buying them separately, but they come with a ton of extra stuff. 16 more accessories to be exact. Thats some bs right there. Nothing really needed, but still pretty crappy. And the worse part is it seems those that bought them through the Neca store the 2nd time they were available are still waiting to receive them.

Looks like the actor to me...I don't get any complaints or claims that neca is just bootlegging the actor's likeness

according to your standards, none of NECA's TMNT figures likenesses are good and are just unsigned bootlegged actor's.
Lol it's ok, buddy. The red mask sculpt is very accurate though. Reminds me of the scene where Tatsu ... oh wait... he didn't wear a mask? how can that be??

Hi. Ninja Turtles nerd here.

Tatsu was a character in the 2012 series as well, introduced prominently as a mysterious ninja with an Oni mask.

I saw it as simply a very cool bonus since many fans liked that visual.

He even comes with the fan he had for basically just one behind-the-scenes photo shoot.

hi nerd friend,
interesting that they didn't add any non-movie specific sculpts for other movie characters (TMNT 3 angry sculpts don't count), right? really makes you think

I bought a completely inaccurate non-movie-color Super Shredder because I thought it looked cool. He comes with a giant spear he never uses in the film either.

I’ve never seen such a strange complaint that a figure includes a totally optional accessory that would make fans of an already extremely niche character happier.

The whole figure is accurate and it also has the actor's likeness. Just wait to SDCC when Trevor says on video that they do have his likeness rights so all the nerds who don't think the figure is the real thing, can get it through their thick skulls that the figure is not a custom. The mask is just a bonus thing, as NECA does this all the time with their TMNT figures.

I mean the figure's likness is fine but the accessories are...odd. The fan makes sense but the mask? I understand it's an easter egg from the animated show but...

Accessories I would have liked to have seen:
1) Oooze Cansiter
2) Smoke gernade
3) Baby Tokka and Rahzar

They have the likeness rights, sometimes it's just not a good sculpt. Look at the BD Robocop Peter Weller likeness, it's off too.

Very excited that Joost sees the potential in 1/6 1990 TMNT. :panic:

I would like to see it match the Neca TMNT with better paint. I like the joints compared to the seamless but I imagine seamless will win out.
The reason I went ahead and ordered the NECA 1/4s, I'd rather have 1/6 but I don't want anything to do with seamless. It won't last. And with these bodies there is no easy swap when it does eventually rot and split
