Which three of these four should be part of the Clean DX set?

Yup. And it's making me second guess.

You know this has to he on both Howard, and JND's radars at least.

Hell.. if Mars really pulls it together, they just might be able to contest with it.
If this is on Howard Chan's radar at all, it's only because of Joost. It's been very clear that for about twelve years, he hasn't given a flying **** about anyone but Batman from Batman Returns.

All I'll say is if this release ***** the bed (especially after the '89 2.0!), I'll be in a very bad place, emotionally. Jazzinc, may the odds be ever in your favor.

Jazzinc should just do their best. My best advice is to stay away from eyeball rolling system. They’re NOT there yet. This is their first figure. Keep it straightforward. Likeness is hard enough, and the eyeball rollers would make this a painfully longer project than they anticipated. Static, sculpted eyes would be best.

They can use separate white static eyeballs and sculpt the eyelids directly over them for their prototype, but when they cast it, it has to be the whole head with eyes included.

I do think face/mouth plates would be awesome for the clean version. I think they can totally pull that off.

Yup. If it's on his radar, it's definitely because of Joost.

And if he has the intention, and he sees a market for it, he'll intercept Jazzinc's figure with his own announcement before it's released.

Jesus! I honestly hope Joost just ignores this thread at this point. Too many witches spoil the brew — this is exactly why I despise most group custom projects.
I assume I'm the witch in question.

Either way, these forums exist for discussion, and if everyone giving their best advice to make this release the best it can possibly be is spoiling your brew, then maybe it's best to avoid these forums.

Frankly, if you don't care about the outcome, you can always order the Eternal Toys figure.

I think missing out on this release would be unwise. However, I could see myself and others cancelling in the event that somebody intercepts this release with a better product.

I'm rather confident we will see more Catwoman figures in the scene, and part of my incessant nagging is my firm belief that Jazzinc is leaving themselves at a disadvantage.

Part of me thinks I should order the battle damaged figure to be safe, and hold out for another company like JND to take a stab at the clean version.

Yeah that’s the idea currently, the Battle Damaged version won’t be touched by anyone else. The only way I could see it would be if JND were to offer a Type C two pack, don’t see them offering her in a skirt for 1:6 like 1:3.

Jazz Inc had great success without consulting everybody on each project. Why should this be any different ?
I agree, you have to be careful who you get your input from....

Because it’s easier to tell him to change the headlights to yellow than it is to explain how to make Keaton’s lips more puckered with the correct creases for example.

This isn’t the first time JazzInc has searched for input, but the whole voting polls are just asking for mass confusion across the board.

If I were Joost, I would take the four clean headsculpts, get them painted, then decide which two or three of the bunch capture Michelle, it’s really simple.

Asking people to choose which when they’ve never seen the painted potential in these sculpts is like putting on a blindfold and picking one; it’s not an informed decision.

Would you prefer he just takes note of Facebook comments?

There are good ideas to be found everywhere; and with those comes a lot of madness.

If Joost is firmly against rolling eyes, which it seems he is- for now at least- then no level of pleading, rationale, demonstrations of the benefits, or assertions that sales will be left wide open to being snatched away if another company jumps in during his production time and offers rolling eyes will change his mind.

Let’s focus on securing that smirking sculpt and making sure we don’t have to get lumped with two identical bases.

I'll say this.

If we do get the static eyes, I would hope that one of the sculpts (preferably the neutral, to avoid looking bland) would have its eyes painted upwards with the sclera (as Nick mentioned before) showing underneath.

It would work wonders for intense displays. Head tilted slightly down. Claws up. A look of focus and scorn in the eyes.

*Battle Damaged eyes could use red and more gloss.

No. Absolutely not. Facebook is a cesspool of stupid.

My point about too many witches: people see what they want to see, and not everyone has an artistic eye. Asking random people to get their opinions is asking for trouble in most cases. I’ve seen projects start promising, and then every Tom, Dick and Harry put in their two cents and watch a sculpt that started out looking great, turn to **** because half the people were asking for things based on ONE screen cap or still photo, or what their memory “perceived”. It’s virtually impossible to capture a likeness based on 6000 still shots or screen caps when each frame has subtle changes, and the best anyone can do is usually done using one image that best captures either the person or the character. Doing more than one sculpt on Joost’s part is a good idea, but it requires using one image for each sculpt that best captures what they’re going for. Asking opinions of people is going to get messy as everyone has that ONE memory, or is looking at one image that may not be the exact same frame/image that the artist is using. At some point, the artist needs to just do what they want to do, and people either like it or they don’t. Generally, someone with artistic skills is going to do a better job then Steve in accounting who “liked the movie.”

I’m an artist with an artistic eye for detail and design.

Yes it’s always best to use a screen grab from the film or promo photos to get as close as possible. However likeness is not subjective here, you’ll know when it’s captured, there’s no denying it when you see it.
