Seems like the cape material is too sleek for the water treatment to have any effect.

That's probably why I never thought to try it.

After changing to Mei's it spent it's life in a bag until the Saturn showed up.

I think I'll test it out with Saturn's on another body so I don't have to needlessly soak Batman. Might not be an accurate trial, but if one works it'll be something.

Before soaking the Saturn cape in water I thought I'd do a dry run trying out the best way to fold it.

I immediately remembered how stiff this cape is, being two layers of material fused back to back.

It gave me no hope that water would work. I imagined the folds popping right back out when dry.

The next option was a steam iron. I haven't used an iron in maybe twenty years, because I never wear anything that needs ironing!

Well, that was until a few days ago when I found a forgotten pair of jeans in a drawer that needed shortening. I found turn up tape and dug out the iron.

Steam ironing turned out to be strangely therapeutic activity. :lol

I folded each side over his shoulder in one large triangle, then folded it forwards over itself.

I gathered the excess material at the back and ironed it so that it holds a lighter fold:

It's not an ideal solution because the material isn't draping naturally, but being forced to conform to a set design.

However, it's no longer an unwieldy stiff board so I'll take this alternative.

It's still wet but I couldn't wait to see it on the Saturn figure (with a Hot Toys' faceplate).

I tried to steal Captain Clown's pose because I've never known what to do with him.

(I'll be trying to steal it better later. :monkey3 )

The folds I ironed in worked with the broader shoulders of the Batman. While the crease at the back popped out due to the shoulder width, it was no longer required anyway on the bigger figure.

So still no sign of any custom capes being made for this Batman?

I loathe the Saturn Toys cape. Just can't get it to look even half way decent.

This is the wrong thread now because I ironed the Saturn cape and kept it on. Not sure the Hot Toys would be any different apart from the clasp.

This is the Saturn pair - the only Hot Toys parts are the stands and Batman's faceplates:

(Got to attend to the posing and hand selection).

I stymied myself by moving the '66 figures out of the Detolf into this wider cabinet, because the mirrored back makes photographing them difficult.

I resorted to using the cover card from Saturn's box set. The funky wallpaper kind of works:

Love that lineup. Awesome pictures dude. :hi5:
Fingers crossed Mars sees the 66 line through and doesn’t vanish into thin air. :lol

You see this 1966 Batcomputer kit coming from ProCustomFigures? It looks amazing!

Preorders should be opening soon on his facebook page - and he’s teased more 1966 Batcave diorama bits too, like the desk and other computer parts.

Thank you. :)

I really hope they see it through.

This is the most fun and most colourful series to build. For me the 1966 iterations have become my prime version of the characters, which is something that would've been unthinkable at one time - especially when the '89 and '92 movies seemed like an antidote to the TV silliness.

I've since embraced the TV silliness, but also envision the 1/6 figures as their more serious comic book counterparts.

In fact, in spite of the comedy in the TV show, there were often sinister motives when you think how many times the villains tried to kill Batman and Robin, and in inventively sadistic ways!

That looks interesting.

But not cheap I expect.

I'll put this in the Saturn thread, but since I started it here I wanted to finish it here.

I finally sorted out Saturn's baggy shorts. Can't remember who it was who did this and suggested the fix, but I tightened up the waistband by pulling a section across and stitching it in place:

Pulled up tight they get too close to Saturn's low emblem, but pulling the shorts down a bit also creates screen accurate wrinkles (!)

Again, this is the Saturn on the HT stand and with a HT faceplate:

That last option, #4, is intended to be displayed on a desk - which he says he wants to offer if this is successful. This is a picture of the one Hot Toys made for their diorama.

Hopefully it’s successful enough for the desk to happen. I really want to display Batman with the Batphone in one hand, and a glass of milk in the other, with the Batcomputer behind him and Robin. :lol
