I miss having more Metal Gear Items in my collection. Trying to decide what to add, currently it's really only the Inferno Hot Toys Raiden and MGR:R collectors Edition. I wish we had more 1/6 figures, or options that weren't stupid expensive.

I mainly collect game items for MGS, so I tend to prioritize things like the Premium Packages (in which I have most), sealed releases, posters and Konami store specials.

I know this is primarily a 1/6 forum - but, you'd be surprised that most MGS collectors outside of this hobby don't really care for the figures of any scale. I've seen the Medicom and Hot Toys stuff struggle to sell on Yahoo Auctions, and you can even find them relatively cheap sometimes on Mercari. If you do need some figures, I'd search there. I picked up a few Raiden statues last year for "cheap" on Yahoo Auctions compared to the prices on Ebay in the U.S.

Very true, you make good points. I have a few searches I am following on Buyee, and Ebay. I'll set some up for Mercari.

Its a weird place right now, as I am hoping with MGS Delta we may get some renewed interest from 3rd Partys to create figures, or even if Konami has some made. Or just other items in general. I cut down my collection over time as I helped pay my wife's way through school.

You should give the proxy service OneMap (aka. FromJapan) a try as well if you haven't already. Their fees are typically cheaper than Buyee and you don't have to pay them for consolidation and protective packaging (which, Buyee charges for). That said, Buyee's sometimes offers really deep discounts on their international shipping and packing services, but that's the only time I'd ever use them.

Konami has always been weird with approvals for MGS figures, and I'm not sure why exactly. There's an upcoming re-release for Figma's MGS 2 Snake, so maybe there's a possibility that they'll expand the lineup.

Mentioning cutting down on your collection, is there anything that you're looking to repurchase? Perhaps I can keep a lookout and give you a heads-up if I find anything.

Oh good to know. I only used them once for a Medicos Store Exclusive.

Possibly. I assumed they would follow suit of Silent Hill 2, which did get 2 official 1/6 figures. Yes, and updated figma Snake is a good sign.
Thank you! I really appreciate that! Currently I am in the throes of deciding what I do want, and what can I fit in the space I have. I am eyeballing a few great deals on Yahoo Japan, hoping I can follow through on them. That said, I am always looking for Ground Zeroes Boss and Raiden. Though I see them come in around 300-400USD which right now is hard to justify on them.

I do want to ask though, for anyone that has the 1/4 Metal Gear Rex. How does it hold up? I found one for a good price and am contemplating it. But they are old, and I am unsure how the joints are fairing.

Are you referring to ThreeA REX? I think it holds up well, at least mine does. The joints are very stiff when you articulate the legs, but I haven't seen any reports of the figures failing even after all of these years.

REX comes with a lot of removable panels on the missile hatches on the legs and backpack, so if you're buying one, be sure that it comes with everything.

There's also a small proprietary wrench for twisting parts of the drive shaft (between the legs and torso). You'll need to do that to properly lift the figure from its factory squatting position from the box. So, make sure that it includes the wrench as well, or there will be some issues.

Correct!

Yes I found a few, with some complete and some not. I think I may finally take the plunge on one of these. Thank you for your help and insight!

Saw someone on FB got their BD Grey Fox already.
I hope F4F will announce 1/4 Gray Fox statue soon.

I wouldn't hold my breath on Metal Gear Solid figures for Delta. Lim Toys 4 years ago teased as Ocelot head sculpt and hasn't been seen or updated since.

I use onemap too. I got these 2 weeks ago on mercari. They are still in the warehouse for now waiting to be shipped "

This is from metal gear wiki
"Two special edition figurines of Dwarf Gekko were released to various members of the development staff to commemorate the game's release. They were given the colors yellow for Kojima Productions, and silver for Platinum Games. They would later be issued for sale."

I don't think they where ever for sale in that colour?

Those are gorgeous.

Exact same one with the yellowing and hole in game was offered on Yahoo auction for around 300 buy it now. On eBay 99% of Japanese sellers are resellers. They just copy/paste from yahoo and mercari

I found that they're usually the same sellers, but they tend to mark up their listings on Ebay somewhat. Much cheaper to buy though a proxy and have it shipped by comparison.

As for the white sorters, they all have yellowing in the area where the memory card holder comes into contact with the case. Seems like some sort of chemical reaction.

Rex is actually 1:30 something scale because thats what size figs fit in there. I remeber when i made my liquid figure. Not sure where 3a got the scale they were advertising.

Well, there's actually some scale discrepancy between the cockpit and the figure itself. I remember from the ThreeA forum, they said that they had to make REX's cockpit slightly larger, for balancing issues. I'm guessing that the cockpit is 1/30 and the rest of the figure is 1/48.

I don't know how that works really, because the figure looks almost prefect in proportion, when compared to Shinkawa's art work.

I was reading through this thread, and completely forgot about the quoted issues with ThreeA's REX. The cockpit is oversized compared to the rest of the figure to compensate for some balancing issues.

I think the half-scale REX would've been more accurate in proportions. Lots of good info buried in the annals of this thread.

Sadly my 1:48 Ray suffered from some serious GPS. Someday I'll try and fix it...
Maybe even give it a proper tail.

the half scale is fine, but it's been in the box forever.

I have the original one too. I've pre-ordered the Final Battle Edition from Hobby-Genki. They add a very good discount. Way cheaper than mamegyorai or Gecco. Did this one came with a special background as well?
