Thought it would be worth it to share this again. I had to revisit it, since mine arrived a few days ago.
Have only messed with it a bit, the hair will definitely need some work, it's all stuck together. I'm thinking of using a wet paintbrush to try and separate some strands. The video shows the use of tweezers, but when I try to pull the strands apart they're just too thick (stay stuck together)
Pleasantly surprised to report that all the hands fit on the wrist pegs snugly. That was my primary concern after Gandalf. It does look like they re-tooled the hands a bit, I can see there's a deeper cavity for the peg/magnet, so it looks like they took proactive action on that. It's still an utterly useless system, as the magnets don't seem to offer any additional strength that friction doesn't. But at least it doesn't impede swapping out hands.
I think the paintwork on the beard is what suffered the most, the proto had that hand-painted look, whereas this just looks airbrushed on. Disappointing, but expected, I suppose. On the proto that sharp detail in the beard, combined with the intricate paint, really helped sell the likeness. The final product ends up looking a bit generic.
I will probably order Legolas now, since I'm not as frustrated with Aragorn as I was with Gandalf. And I'm not nearly as worried about the hair, since there's nothing to futz there.
