Fantastic pics. :clap Think I'm starting to prefer the look without the duster. Shows off more textures and the intricacies of the shirt.
Textures and colors! The grey, brown, and green just play well off each other. The Strider look has much less contrast.

Just got mine today. This might be one of my favorite figures. All around awesome looking. It does make me wish a bit that I got the rooted hair as the sculpted hair is a bit rough:

Hair aside though, on a shelf this one is awesome.
I think the sculpted hair looks better than the rooted. They really messed up the rooting hairline making it look unnatural, almost like a toupée tacked onto the top of the head. Having said that, as you mentioned, the sculpted hair appears to be lacking detail.

I just got my Aragorn (with rooted hair) a couple of days ago and still have to open it to see how much I like or dislike the hair work. So far I'm working off collector-peer pics here to make any decisions.

Man these two look so good together. Really like that prototype pose for Aragorn and am probably gonna keep him displayed like this.

I regret selling my Gandalf every time I see a photo of these two together. Also the hair on your Aragorn looks amazing. I do think it was a mistake in my part rushing to trim down the bangs because it ended up way to short on mine. I still feel unsatisfied with how it looks on mine but I've been working on it to get it to look decent.

I dont think the bangs were cut too short tbh. If anything I would just bring even more hair to the front. Here is a top down of the hair part on mine

amazing pics @i_amjam :clap you've really taken to that new camera very well!

I’d like to see someone pose him with the ranger cloak while traversing the Pass of Caradhras. Probably my favorite look for him.

This was the pose I was sort of going to go for similar to the Sideshow statue. Will have to wait for the Topo cloak as I don't recall any of us here getting the ranger cloak

Yeah I think had I just gave it more thought or removed the product first then worked the hair then seen how it would look after I'd make the cuts better but as of now they aren't great. Though not horrible I'll just work with them for now and leave it as is. Some shots in film they are some what short.

That is the big problem of the sculpted version for me. The sculpted hair IS lacking detail and makes the whole headsculpt lifeless.
To be honest the sculpted hair even looks like from a cheap toy for me (or I just havn't seen a convincing image/video)...

I have rooted and sculpted and think the sculpted hair is a bit rubbish. HotToys hair is better. Actually I look at my whole sculpted Aragorn and despite really liking the character the figure doesn’t give me any more enjoyment than even some 3rd party figures like Killer Mike. The proper hair makes all the difference. Their figures are overpriced but I’m glad I ordered the rooted Atreides as I’d worry about the plastic hair being bobbins.

I'm completely satisfied with the sculpted hair on mine. It has as much detail as I would expect from Hot Toys, blitzway, etc. Where I could agree with some criticism is that the hair may be too shiny. I've considered adding a matte clear coat to make it comparable to other figures, but the shiny look makes it seem unwashed and oily which isn't out of character for this guy.

Anyone have any recommendation for hair product to use to keep stray hairs down? Water does 90% of the work but trying to find something I can either spray or apply on directly to keep single or individual stray hairs down.

Hair spray applied with a smaller brush helps just make sure to cover the face so it doesn't stick to the face or makes it tacky.

Thought it would be worth it to share this again. I had to revisit it, since mine arrived a few days ago.

Have only messed with it a bit, the hair will definitely need some work, it's all stuck together. I'm thinking of using a wet paintbrush to try and separate some strands. The video shows the use of tweezers, but when I try to pull the strands apart they're just too thick (stay stuck together)

Pleasantly surprised to report that all the hands fit on the wrist pegs snugly. That was my primary concern after Gandalf. It does look like they re-tooled the hands a bit, I can see there's a deeper cavity for the peg/magnet, so it looks like they took proactive action on that. It's still an utterly useless system, as the magnets don't seem to offer any additional strength that friction doesn't. But at least it doesn't impede swapping out hands.

I think the paintwork on the beard is what suffered the most, the proto had that hand-painted look, whereas this just looks airbrushed on. Disappointing, but expected, I suppose. On the proto that sharp detail in the beard, combined with the intricate paint, really helped sell the likeness. The final product ends up looking a bit generic.

I will probably order Legolas now, since I'm not as frustrated with Aragorn as I was with Gandalf. And I'm not nearly as worried about the hair, since there's nothing to futz there.

Really loving this figure, only big nit is his giant forehead. If Inart would have set the hair slightly lower this would be a 9/10 to me. Got to make those bangs cover over his eyes to hide it. Facial hair could be more prominent as well but not as big of a deal.

So many looks he can be posed, great overall effort.
