InArt: The Lord of the Rings - Aragorn 1:6

I'm comparing it to HT's IW Bucky, Yondu, and others where it's like a miniature person on the shelf (granted, it can take HT a few tries to get there). From any angle. It's not that I don't see the resemblance; for me tho it never was quite it. Gandalf looked too robust and healthy; Aragorn...

InArt: The Lord of the Rings - Legolas 1:6

Just that comment has me leaning toward bowing out with InArt no matter how my hair situation turns out. Mainly because the memory of InArt and their fancy videos, the guy with gloved hands and his tweezers like he's handling a museum piece, then I read what sounds like jumping through hoops if...

Maybe/probably. I've seen plenty of great pictures too. I probably should have saved some of the posts explaining all that.

I feel that way about Gandalf, Aragorn, now Legolas. Also I figure with Aragorn something must be off or why does he have to be photographed so carefully or he looks like someone else. But I would have been happy enough if I'd gotten a reasonable version of the prototype. The face paint is fine.

Since my Aragorn hair was #ss was doing some reading on dealing with mohair....yeah, it can be straightened but hafta read more to see if it will recurl. The Potter figs seem to have straight hair more or less. And even before my Aragorn irritation reached an edge, TBH for me it's the same old...

Thanks guys. Yeah, who wants to go through the hassle, but reading more comments and in the Gandalf thread too, I just got more upset. In hindsight it should have been sent straight back but I'm new at mohair so I thought I'd try. Wasted a lot of time tho guess I learned a few things handling...

The whole "journey" is a few pages back. I did what I could. Should've sent it straight back but I tried. We are not talking "minor variations" here. Looks something like Inigo Montoya.:poop:

Am debating contacting them, tho after a comment in the Gandalf post debatable whether they will do anything. Took hours to get to this point and a ridiculous amount of gel - so much product this might as well be artificial fiber. There's more stuff I could try but even then, there's too...

Yeah the hair on mine is shorter than I would have wanted, tho with a cloak on it's harder to tell with the extra fabric at the neck. I've got hair envy for the folks who basically didn't have to do much. I don"t get why InArt didn't use a straighter fiber either, they managed with the hair of...

Speaking of diminishing returns - and maybe cutomizers can comment - I've got so much product in mine to tamp down the volume I wonder what the point is vs. sculpted. I always thought rooted if well done needs minimal product that's kind of the selling focus. Oh well maybe one day I'll have the...

Well, I was more or less sanguine about the whole hair thing. Until I wandered over to the Gandalf thread, curious to see if anyone else/other figure got "too much hair". Yep. But what frosted me, finally, was a post where InArt responded to an inquiry about the person just being deliberately...

IMO this is true; am using a cell phone but in hand the hair on mine, while full, appears less wavy (tho thick) and from like 8 inches away it's a dead on likeness. Maybe "cameras don't lie" it's a very good Aragorn on the shelf. BTW, I found this kind of metal Y crotch stand useful when...

I'm new at dealing with mohair hair but yeah, bet the folks here who've done rooting could talk probably about the patience needed. Tho some folks it looks like got the rooted Aragorn look right out of the box. I just figure it goes with the 1/6 territory like picking up a 3rd party - am...

People who are stickler for accuracy are the same kind of people whose movie costumes are discussed 20 years later, end up in books, and are used in classrooms. I know this because I just picked up the inexpensive Padme red gown fig and there's entire commentaries on how those SW costumes were...

IMO nobody should knock the sculpted - am a rooted hair fan but *unexpectedly* spent hours tinkering with Aragorn's hair. Am still tinkering with it. I don't mind so much (and dream of a mohair rooted Thorin, and this fiber would have been excellent for that), but I like working with my hands...
