Legolas having straight hair actually makes it the safest bet compared to Gandalf and Aragorn. Having subtle curls in the hair is harder to produce nicely at a larger quantity. Makes it even easier to water and futz straight since that's all that it requires.

I could be wrong as my time spent with lamb's wool for hair rooting is limited, but the samples I still have are pretty naturally wavy and not straight. Therefore, I imagine they will need to straighten the hair before applying and then apply product to keep it straight. Wetting it would most likely cause it to go back to it's natural wavy state

I mean don't get me wrong I really like this figure and I think it looks great (excuse the horrible phone pics), but receiving that second Aragorn killed some of the joy I had. Didn't take pics I packed it up again.

This is the better one of the two. These are older photos, I futzed with the outfit and kinda changed the hair style, but didn't take pics yet.

Since my Aragorn hair was #ss was doing some reading on dealing with mohair....yeah, it can be straightened but hafta read more to see if it will recurl. The Potter figs seem to have straight hair more or less.

And even before my Aragorn irritation reached an edge, TBH for me it's the same old - close, but not quite re the likeness. Better than ASMUS, but not quite there. And I've got no complaints at all about ASMUS Legolas costume etc, considering the price point, details and all.

Dunno if FOMO will get to me; or will think it over and call it a day, after the Aragorn hair thing.

I ordered another one this past January, so that one should come in the last batch. I'm very curious to see how that one turns out compared to the one I already got.

Given the factory workers are exhausted by that batch, chances are your last batch Aragorn received double application of Soul Glo.

Seriously though, hope it won't be the case of last batch Gandalf where some rings included didn't have the same finish and without any inscriptions.

They broke it off with the factory where the cheerio one rings made it past the assembly line.

That's good. Unfortunately, I still have the cheerio ring and never received a replacement for it.

Correct. However, I wasn't saying they can't do straight hair. I was saying that once you add water and wash out the product, it could potentially go back to wavy if that was how the hair was prior to them putting the product in. It's my understanding that both of those have quite a bit of product in the hair to maintain the shape and straightness. If that's not the case, then I'm happy to be corrected.

I feel I should wait a few days before ordering. I still don't trust 1st batches.... I feel like 2nd or 3rd batches have been the best batches so far out of Joker, Gandalf and Aragorn. Of course there is still a wide variance on the product, but blu-tac and missing items are usually the problems of 1st batches... and the laziness once QC officers take longer breaks seems to occur in later batches.

Just that comment has me leaning toward bowing out with InArt no matter how my hair situation turns out.

Mainly because the memory of InArt and their fancy videos, the guy with gloved hands and his tweezers like he's handling a museum piece, then I read what sounds like jumping through hoops if there's an issue and the &%$# pencil, then thinking these are sixth scale figures as pricey as a statue, and the reality is inexpensive materials, irregular QC, and you're rolling the dice as to what you get.

ASMUS figs made me happy. HT figs make me happy. Random 3rd party figs have made me happy. Heck even HASBRO Black Series makes me happy.
Purchasing a fig shouldn't be a cr@p shoot. I'd stayed out of the Gandalf thread since there was no reason to be there, but cruising through and there's hugely poofy hair, then that insane shot of hair just butchered across.

I don't feel happy thinking about InArt, at best they need to care about their customers and qc, at worst probably can't say here. They're reminding me of statue companies - which they are an offshoot of - with great protos and maybe the customer lucks out.
