Re: "The Event" NBC TV show.

I enjoyed the first episode. I don't mind the time shifts either. I mean, I've gone through flashbacks, flash forwards, and flash sideways with LOST. :lol

Re: "The Event" NBC TV show.

I liked it enough to keep watching.

Reminded me of:

1) LOST

With the plane crash (or almost crash) pilot episode.

2) Flashforward

With the time jumps.

3) Fringe

With the WTF disappearing plane, "they saved us" ending.

Over all a good start to another mystery show.

Re: "The Event" NBC TV show.

I missed it, I'll watch it online sometime in the next couple days

They're doing repeats on Saturdays.

I'll give it a few more episodes. I'll get bored with it fast if it's another LOST that never answers anything.

Re: "The Event" NBC TV show.

I never got into Lost and when I finally tried to see what all the talk was about a few seasons had already passed so I had no clue what was going on and said screw it. So not a fan of that show, or Fringe, or Flash Forward. I'm aware of all of them but never watched any of them.

I thought the first episode of The Event was cool and had no problem following along (with the non-linear presentation). I'll watch it for no other reason than it being shown on a night where I have nothing else to watch.

I just hope "The Event" isn't Alien related. Because that's been done before numerous times both on TV and in Movies.

Re: "The Event" NBC TV show.

Aliens, parallel dimensions, and worldwide conspiracy have all been done recently, and I'm not sure where else this could be going. I suspect there will be some inevitable rehashing.

Re: "The Event" NBC TV show.

I don't necessarily mind people rehashing ideas as long as they add something new. It is possible to flip a played concept. It's just annoying when people don't even attempt to be creative or add anything new to the mix and just rehash something that's already been done with the hopes that the people watching haven't seen where the idea was taken from. I see that a lot with remakes that are released solely with the intent of presenting something "old" to a "new" audience. It's garbage.

Re: "The Event" NBC TV show.

I just watched this, and all I have to say is...

"What did I tell you!? 88 milllles per hooour!"

Re: "The Event" NBC TV show.

I had taped it and watched it last night.

It was interesting.

My guess is that the time reference jumps we saw throughout the episode are exactly what this show is about: Time Travel.

The group of "prisoners" are somehow able to move through time and change events from happening. I think we saw the results of their tampering when the airliner disappeared and the women told the president, "they saved us."

(just spotted MarfMaster's spoiler and am in complete agreement.)

Hmm, interesting. I would like that. :exactly:

That was my thought as well...
They're not Americans-- They're "Futurians"...
But having watched it I got less of a LOST vibe and more of a THRESHOLD (that shortlived CBS show with Brent Spiner etc.). I'll give this a few more episodes.

I agree with you on the less LOST, more of a Threshold vibe. And I loved the label you gave them! :lecture

Not when the Forty Niners are sucking as badly as they are so far this season. :lol

The 49er's lost a heartbreaker last week but I see them bouncing back and making it a competitive season.

Re: "The Event" NBC TV show.

Wow! I didn't expect such a strong second episode. I was hoping it would be good but this was fantastic! I want more!
