 I whipped up a little crude animation for how the wheels 'worked' in the movie versus how I think they work on the Hot Toy.

This is awesome!! Great work.

I'm thinking that you must be bang-on in terms of how wide the tires must be in the movie. Because when you think about it, Keaton has to fit inside that cockpit, and he's surely wider than a regular tire width.

The HT Batmissile would be a good representation. However, it is inaccurate in many areas which I hope JazzInc might correct if they decide to pull the trigger with their own version.

I'm nit-picking here, but just a few things I noticed;

Tire Treads are massively over-scaled and inaccurate, compared to movie prop 'Mickey Thompson' tires.
Front wheel rims too large (should be smaller, with wider tire sidewalls) (rear wheels appear okay, size-wise)
Turbine Housing edges not thick enough
Body height (over front wheels) not tall enough (too shallow) - should be taller with more pronounced curve
Turbine nose-cone should droop
Some suspension components inaccurately shaped
Air-Scoop (above canopy) too shallow (should be taller/more curved)

Back definitely splits ^ to move back, which extends the vehicle, making room for the wheels to go as described "

While HT for the most captured what's on screen, lol anyone complaining that it doesn't precisly capture the impossible movie fakery,
Though I never really liked the design concept, it implied the rest of the vehicle was a superfluous shell.

To escape through the alley, would rather he had launched out, shielding up the Batmobile, then glided down and switched to a remote waiting Batcycle, that somewhat incorporated the design, but was an actual different vehicle.

If instead of re-doing this, Joost and Co. want to get into designing an actual 1:6 89 style Batcyle exclusive, which incorporates some of those elements, just to have a smaller vehicle in that scale, that looks like it belongs to the 89 U. I'd be all in. :wink1:

Honestly we shouldn’t complain. It was so unpredictable that this particular vehicle saw the light of day, above all from a manufacturer like HT.
Ok it’s maybe not 100% accurate but the source material reference is so tiny. It’s a vehicle that only existed as a RC studio scale model saw maybe 10 sec on screen.

I mean, it’s a little miracle that it went for PO…

And yet on the product page HT still claims that this "highly detailed collectible exquisitely captures the Batmissile’s appearance from the movie with extreme precision". Not to mention charging $610 for it. :lol

I'm just shocked that so many folks are actually interested in this, I guess.
Regardless of whether you want this or want to wait to see what Joost might do, It’s a vehicle that everyone assumed would never be offered from a much beloved film from long ago. It’s natural that people are curious and have comments. Isn’t that what this forum is for???

As I don’t collect anything from Returns I have zero intention to order it but I admit that on display next to the regular Batmobile it could look super cool IMO…
89 figure next to the 89 Batmobile and Returns figure next to the batmissile…

It was just a statement, not an indictment lol

Another thing I've been thinking about in regards to the magical mechanics of this vehicle.... where on earth does the pneumatic turntable come from that descends from the Batmobile in the earlier scene? And what happens to it when the Batmobile transforms into the Batmissile? Much like the vanishing second seat, this one leaves me scratching my noggin 😂
I know this all comes under 'suspension of disbelief' but my brain can't help try and puzzle these things out.
Nanotech... :dunno .... Duhh... ..:cuckoo:

What, you think Tony Stark invented it first? Obviously Bruce Wayne had it in the early 90's and Stark stole it and took credit for it. Damn Narcissist that one is...

:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

Well if the movie were made today, they would have all the extra parts just magically fold away like Ant-man's helmet. So I appreciate that they at least tried to make some of this look practical and somewhat believable. And while watching as a kid I never considered what might have happened with the extra seat or turntable.

I hate you guys, the one time I needed references for my model kit a while back and all of a sudden the blue prints come out hahaha.

It’s like finding cockpit photos of the bat ski boat, it’s all up to interpretation at that rate.

I grew up with the Kenner toys, like WorGar I had the model kits growing up, the Batmobile batmissile that split up, even the hot wheels toys, for me the batmissile is a done deal, either way I look at it, the eight wheels just feels normal to me because that entire sequence visually makes no sense but it was cool at the time lol.

All of a sudden a few frames later Alfred must have picked up the panels that flew off the Batmobile because when Bruce is in the bat cave, he’s working on the “engine” and the Batmobile is “whole” again. As much as I love Batman returns that movie makes no sense, now I’m nitpicking the returns costume reissue.

PD. Whoooaa not looking forward to that rechargeable battery, I’ve already had LED wiring problems with the 89 Batmobile that I’m not looking forward to maintaining this piece ten years down the road, i hope they make the rechargeable battery easy to swap out

So the Batmobile in Returns only had one seat?
In the movie, it isn't, at least from what we can see. If you watch when it converts, you'll notice that the canopy getting slimmer doesn't actually shrink the interior. It just narrows the width of the canopy itself while the interior remains being the two seat that the Batmobile is.

You can even see Batman is still sitting on the left side and is looking out from the left window. Just looks like it's a tighter fit for him.

I actually like the HT rendition better than that real prop. It maintains the Batmobile details with less random changes/adjustments. The front part of the missile pod, from the top of the body to the top part of the wheel isn't as thick as the real Batmissile, where did that extra height come from on the real thing - makes it look like a submarine. Did the rims magically get smaller on the real Batmissile? How did the canopy air scoop get that tall given the shorter height of the Batmobile canopy scoop.
