No Howard actually painted it himself. The way I understand it, NECA basically gave him 3 days at the last minute to get it painted and ready for display at SDCC.

The black and white pictures is of the unfinished sculpt in clay that were taken a year ago. some changes were made to the sculpt since then.

For only having 3 days to complete the job, he did an amazing job! It looks much better in person than in the pics.

I completely agree. I'm very anxious to see this one released. Wonder what changes the paintjob might go through though for the production piece.

I am definately interested, but the paint left some to be desired. We'll see, it certainly has potential.

Thanks for sharing the scale of this piece, all the pictures I've seen don't have anything near it to show the scale. 1:1 would be really nice, I hope they do make it, and it isn't perfect, but being NECA, it won't be up to SSC quality, BUT should also be maybe $100-$200 at the most, which is much cheaper than the really high end 1:1 busts, and for that price, I'd be happy with it as is, really see Depp in there, so let's hope this comes to reality.

Let's all keep in mind that Howard only had 3 days to paint this, I'm sure if NECA decides to produce it they'll make sure the paint is right. As I said before, for a RUSH job it looks great.

it looked okay, nothing too impressive.
Hopefully they can get a better paintjob done
