I've been looking for a reason to be wowed by this, but after a couple of days it hasn't happened. Four bills and then some buys: Very nice detail all round. No moving eyes. Both sculpts fixed gaze in the same direction. Few accessories. No evidence of anything other than basic posing potential provided by the body or stand. A vague and compromised middle ground between 1/6 figure and 1/4 statue. Pass.

Yep pretty much. I really don't see much of a point to this figure.

While this figure does looks great, it doesn't have that "wow" factor for me either.

Especially with the BD T-800 lurking around the corner. For hardcore BL fans this will belong in their collection, but I could easily see this one on clearance at BBTS for a reasonable price. Just have to wait awhile. :wink1:

I'm skipping this one most likely since Blitzway announced Arnie Kim will be making a 1/4 Scale Statues.

Seems like the $375 price tag has quite the effect on how one feels about this figure. I think if this was $170 like EB's older HD Masterpiece's, there'd be a keyboard orgy in here.

Gone are the days $170 1:6 figures let alone 1:4 HD ones... for $170 I would have picked it up in a heartbeat. Honestly the workmanship on the figure is tops but I just dont see it as a necessary item in my BL collection. Will wait for 1/6 Big Boss and that screaming headsculpt...

That WIP screaming sculpt looks sweet. Might be another BL purchase :thud:

I'm curious on how you guys rate this 1/4 compared to older BL releases. Has there been a better looking BL release than this? Not comparing price or included accessories. Basically, if all the BL figures released so far were lined up on a table, with nothing but the body, clothes, & head sculpt/s they came with, which one (& only one) would you want the most?

Maybe you guys still think the older EtD, Kato, or FoF 1/6 scale figures are still the ones to beat?

I think this is the top BL figure now, & I'm kinda happy I didn't spend basically the same amount on the 1/6 FoF figure that I wanted to buy before.

No I dont think the older figures are still the ones to beat. In terms of likeness and realism this one if far ahead of them. But the price in these days coupled with the limiting factor of display is what is mainly going against this release

But take those things out, as a simple release compared to its predecessors its the best done till now... without a shade of doubt.

However honestly the bigest factor for me is also scale, Im not a buyer of 1/4.. I have controlled the urges very strongly. I believe the best 1/6 figure for Bruce Lee is going to be the future Big Boss from EB simply because EB sculpts and paints have just come to a new level which I dont see in their nearest competitor of Hot Toys...

Pretty good points you're making, buddy. I also think that more people would be into this if the price was a bit lower. And no doubt that it's the better Bruce Lee figure in the market today.

It's just that sadly, while the quality got higher, so did the price. And this sequence doesn't hold true for most in the working class. Salaries are always the last to increase. Realistically speaking, I see myself slowing down from this hobby after the release of the 1989 Batmobile. USD's getting weaker against my local currency, while expenses are getting higher.

So I'm curious at how much the highest price you are willing to pay for this bruce lee.
the highest I'm willing to pay is $390 with shipping included

EB sculpts and paints have just come to a new level
There have been some misses with newer releases, but overall, their sculpting & paint app team is doing a good job.

You touched on probably two of the most common issues that peeps might be facing, when deciding to buy the WotD 1/4 or not. The price, if not the price itself, then maybe the figures worthiness of such a price tag. & the scale.

Truth.

Pricing increases in this hobby is too rapid, & crazy. I might have to slow down & focus my collection as well.

What about $390.01? :lol

Sadly, if this was over $500, I might still be considering it. Do I think it's worth that much? Maybe not. But when you want something badly enough .....

Edit: I was thinking about how I wanted a 1/4 'Game Of Death' figure, & realised by (if) the time that was released, $500 might be the norm, or even considered a bargain :thud:

In the meantime 'Hot Toys' would be happily charging that amount for their 1/6 figures :lol

I'd consider getting this if these were priced at $250-280ish. So are these limited to 5000pcs like the usual BL stuffs, or are they unlimited now?

i would really like this in my collection.but the price $435/£280ish is a killer.had the sculpts had moveable eyes/or opposite direction on 1 sculpt.more hands.(no palm hand!! cmon bill),still not sure on the action sculpt (somethings off) extras are barebones. and i think $60 shipping is kinda steep.$375 shipped.i would get.and although the HD1002 ETD is a statue ($170!!!) shipped this no way equates to 2.5 times the best BL 1/4 out there.

You're asking the impossible hydeous:horror
I changed my mind, if the price ever go down to $400, I might buy it.
Now it's matter of patience to look for a bargain. maybe 4-5 months from now, we might seeing WOTD bruce with lower price.
If I'm not mistaken, even EB Bats is now at $325 without shipping included

The price is on the high side. Hopefully some promo, like free shipping...might be a pass for me and save up for The Big Boss instead...

:panic:

$375 shipped.i'd seriously consider getting this..myself if i could get the figure with the calm sculpt,a couple of hands for say $250 shipped i'd be pretty happy.you cant really use the staff/nunchuks as per movie scene.not bothered about darts or re/used stand (very batman)or ''action head''.all in all a great looking figure but a major let down on cost and lack of authentic movie poses.yeah i know i seem to be very critical, but i'd want to pose BL in my fav scence and due to the lack of thoughtwith this figure.i/you cant.
well larry the 1/4 ETD in my/most peoples opinion is the BEST BL out there.and although this WOTD in terms of paint app etc may outdo it,it does'nt justify the huge price increase....rant over ;)

Diamond comics if I'm not mistaken. some people on the batman thread bought from that online store and so far so good. I think the WOTD price will be lower on that store. the downside is, you might wait around 3 months until they have ready in stock.
tough choice!

I too never rant this much over a price of a figure:lol

Make the most money you can, while doing as little work as you think you can get away with. Nothing out of the ordinary :lol
