...yes i'm being naughty for buying one but my worry of it being a fake would not be there because I already know that i'm buying a fake, albeit a nice looking one.

The only fake SS IM I have seen in person was at the SDCC. A vendor had one for 1K (no box, no styrofoam) and I could immediately tell the difference between a recast and original. The paint apps/quality were not as sharp and his shoulder seams were obvious. If there is no Sideshow shipping box, no SS IM box, and no grey "Sideshow" printed strofoam, it is probably a fake.

Thank you for the advise, I will apply that.

Was grey the only color used for the comiquettes?

At first I thought he was a Rollerball player holding his metal ball during the Rollerball Tournament National Anthem and all that was missing was a 1/4 scale Jonathan E (aka James Caan) standing behind him.

Then I realized that it was Iron Man, cool.

There are so many tempting Gold-Red Iron Man Comiquette's (the football one, not standing up) on Ebay for good BIN prices from Singapore sellers!

I asked one for real pics and no answer.

Man I want one so bad but I simply can't get myself to buy one from the Orient after reading so many stories of fakes, especially when they don't even answer your emails.

I'm even bidding on a stealth right now being sold from NY.

Regarding this standing recast.

I'll admit that I probably would buy one because at least I know what it is from the start, a recast, meaning that yes i'm being naughty for buying one but my worry of it being a fake would not be there because I already know that i'm buying a fake, albeit a nice looking one.

But i'm also sure that if possible, SS and Marvel will probably go after the makers with all their legal powers.

Don't buy 'Gold-Red Iron Man Comiquette's' from asia... most of them are fake! Better get the seller to send you pics before purchasing it. :D

Most of the fakes are from China, shipped to HK, Taiwan, Singapore...etc

Buyers beware! :naughty

Well, here is the response I got from someone selling their Stealth IM:

"The styrofoam is white. I bought this piece directly from sideshow, this is not a fake statue."

Did the Stealth have a white and the Red-Gold grey?

Thank You

My Red/Gold Ex. came in gray foam, but I have owned three SIMs and they all came in white. I guarantee they were all legitimate.

Ughhhh..this hurts my head, thank god I don't have a brain up there for anything to be damaged from said pain.

Thank you everyone for the advise and feedback.

There sure seems like there is a confusion what is real or not based on the color of the Styro?

Not an easy decision to say the least.

I'm retarded...

thought you were talking about the red/gold IM :duh

Oh cool, thanks for the clarification. No problem, these details can slip between our fingers every once in awhile.

At least this info now gave me the green light to go ahead and bid.

Thanks everyone.

Personally, these days, I wouldn't pay any serious money for a Red/Gold unless it came with the grey Styrofoam packing with the Sideshow lettering, the color and Sideshow shipping boxes, some proof of receipt from Sideshow itself, usually in the form of a shipping label on the outer box, and some excellent photos. Mine has all of the above, but I bought it a couple of years ago.

To the best of my knowledge, there aren't any fake SIMs on the market, yet, especially with authentic (looking at least) packaging. If the seller is reputable, and he can provide proof of the above items, I would think you would be good to go.

Excellent and go i'm going....

I've begun to bid on them...hopefully i'll score one soon.

Grazie.

SIM == white styro (send backs also from the paint flakes)
Red/Gold == grey styro

Yup that's right Skiman

SS Stealth Iron Man Exclusive white styro, I have owned up to six of them, all with white styro.

SS Exc Red/Gold has the grey styro. I do not know about the non-exc.

Hey, does anyone know if the SS Exc Iron Man Red/Gold, or the SS Exc SIM, or the SS IM Red/Gold, came with a catalogue of some sort? If so, what was it? I never received a new one!

It is fascinating that someone who is so adamant that all recasts are fakes, and says that it is wrong to buy recasts would buy this one.

Atleast they got talent.

BTW, you are indirectly dealing with Asian people when you buy Sideshow stuff...Think about it.

Recasting doesn't take talent. Just knowledge and $.

Btw, I never said I don't deal with all Asian people, like you are insinuating. I have had many good dealings with the ones that are honest.

Boy, for someone trying as hard as you have been to come off as sounding even halfway intelligent, you really seem to struggle with the basic concept of reading and gathering the facts. You might want to try that next time.

This is just one of several posts that I've made in this thread alone where I'm NOT defending recasting/recasters...

I totally understand where you're coming from on this and I'm not arguing about it.

BUT aside from the striking similarities between the pieces, especially the type of armor, how would anyone pursue this as being a recast?

Again, don't get me wrong on this because I'm not at all defending recasting in any way, but it seems like anyone would be hard pressed to actually prove that it's a recast. Different base, different pose... arguably an all around different statue.

Like most of us likely agree, it is basically a repositioned version of Sideshow's comiquette, but that really never clicked until someone pointed it out. Maybe I was just that pumped about the piece, but due to the position and change-o-head/hands, the possibility of it utilizing recast parts never even crossed my mind.

Does it use recast parts? It appears to be the case.
Have I ever defended recasting/recasters? No.
Do I need to justify myself in buying one of these? No, not really (especially not to you), but I decided to in order to pacify the situation. I like the pose just as much as my original exclusive and will end up displaying it next to my Cap, Thor, and Hulk.

Again, if you look closely at this little debate you're jumping into a little late, you'll find yourself grasping for anything to try and make a point. If trying to call me out on buying 1 of 50 pieces of a customized version of the original Sideshow comiquette helps you to sleep at night, I hope that it also sheds a little light on how empty and unfulfilling your life really is.
