Phew! Glad the assymetrical verson is first up. LOL
Man, I am really looking forward to finally, after all these years - having a 1/6 Vader that is truly accurate to all of the subtle shapes, proportions and details of the original helmet, armor, chest box and belt boxes. You are going to make a lot of people VERY happy with this project.

Wish I could do the same for the original style Terminator endoskeleton.

Just to show how asymmetrical and wonky the original pieces are:

That looks amazing! I have been following this thread since it started and it is great to see how far things have progressed. I am in for a whole armor set when they are offered. I hope you offer both the asymmetrical and symmetrical dome. I prefer the asymmetrical dome but I think I would like the symmetrical version as well when my OCD takes a left turn :)

Awesome work Carsten, I know how much time and effort you've put into this. For many when this is released it " will be a day long remembered". :)

While working on the chest and belt boxes and going to fix the few issues with the mesh on the ANH dome and chest armor, and potentially being able to make a new fuse of the ESB dome, I wanted to show off the parts making up the whole v2 project. Some of these has already been printed, such as the two stormtrooper helmets. I had previously printed out Vader parts in the v2 line, but I improved all of them so have to print out all the Vader parts again.

Anyway, listing things from top to bottom:

- Stormtrooper helmet, ANH, SFS - Symmetrical Vader face mask (dome will come later and the face mask may be redone) - Stormtrooper helmet, RotJ
- DJ parts consisting of dome, face mask, chest armor and bells - ANH face mask (DJ+TM+VP) - ESB face mask (TM) - ESB dome (TM)
- Lightsaber ESB - Lightsaber ANH - Chest and belt boxes ANH and ESB - Shins

Is there any difference between the ANH and ESB domes besides the widows peak? I remember once hearing that the ESB/ROTJ domes had a thicker center stripe but I don’t know if that is actually true.

This is just nuts. If all this ends up going up for sale it's likely I will faint upon opening the package. Too much goodness in one box.:lol

Oh, there are many differences, detail and shape-wise between the various movies, and even between the various domes used in ESB and RotJ. And there is just as much difference between the ESB and RotJ domes as there is between the ESB and ANH. The RotJ is much more cleaned up and refined than the ESB and ANH. The center stripe seems a bit wider on the ESB dome, but it is not all the way across - seems mostly to be at the front. Mostly they seem to match up pretty well in the scans. But it can simply be a feature of the dome I handled and which was scanned and not how all the ESB domes were, as they were individually finished from ANH style casts, if I remember correctly what I've been told. Uncertain of the RotJ as I've not handled a casting made from one or have a scan of one, but it just seems softer overall to me.

I haven't personally spent much time studying these differences but people who have reverse engineered ESB or RotJ domes to ANH style have shared their experiences and observations.

OMGs
I have been checking out the thread. 5 years in the making. That is a whole lot of love right there...!

I can be nitpicking for certain things but Vader' armour is not one of those. I'll try to get HT's ROTJ version, and I'll be satisfied with. Let's hope all light-up parts will be well done, and that HT will be more accurate than ever before (if only, because price will be higher than ever before!).

Anyway, there is something about your project I'd like to ask you about, Too Much Garlic: why MakeHuman? Why not Blender or any other free 3D package?

Thanks,
m.

I used MakeHuman to make the Prowse body as it was easy to use and was what I could find that suited my needs at the time. You could load in individual measurements for every part of the body to make the model, which I was unable to find any other program that could. Of course, after switching to Mac and trying MakeHuman again it no longer seems to have that particular feature and it's gotten harder to use.

Oh I am sure you could do that, no only in Blender, but in any 3D package. It doesn't seem such a difficult or infrequent task...
I am sure that if you look into Blender, you'll find a way. I am told it is very versatile.

Man oh man. Trooper buckets too now???

Holy crap I can’t wait to buy these from you. It’s almost too good to be true.

I’m working on a Tatooine detachment of four Sandtroopers, and I really need the more accurate helmets.

Truly exceptional work. It feels like this is pretty much ready to go now. Can't see how you could improve these beautiful pieces much more. I cannot wait to finally own a 1/6 Vader with correctly proportioned and accurately detailed parts.
